President Trump Delivers Christmas Message Calling on Americans to ‘Exemplify the Teachings of Christ’ (VIDEO)

President Trump delivered a wonderful Christmas message on Wednesday morning, calling on Americans to unify and to ‘exemplify the teachings of Christ.’

“While the challenges that face our country are great, the bonds that unite us as Americans are much stronger,” Trump wrote in a statement. “Together, we must strive to foster a culture of deeper understanding and respect — traits that exemplify the teachings of Christ.”

“We hope your heart is filled with the love and joy of your faith, family, and friends this Christmas,” Trump concluded. “We send our best wishes for a merry Christmas and a happy and prosperous New Year.”

The President and First Lady Melania also shared a Christmas message in a social media video, thanking our troops and called for Americans to care for others.

“At this sacred time of year, Christians celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and rejoice in His love for every person,” Trump said.

What a difference from the last administration.

Mao Tse Tung ornaments are out and Christ is back in the White House.

Barack Obama just couldn’t help himself and wove Islam and Muslims into his last Christmas message in 2016.

Good riddance.

Turkey may send troops to Libya if ‘invited’ by UN-backed Tripoli government – Erdogan

Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that Ankara will consider deploying soldiers to help the United Nations-backed government in Libya fight off rival factions in the civil war-torn country.

Erdogan made the comment in a meeting with Tunisian President Kais Saied during a surprise visit to Tunisia on Wednesday.

We haven’t been present anywhere uninvited. If there will be an invitation, we will assess it, of course.

Erdogan’s spokesperson previously told reporters that parliament is working on a bill that would allow soldiers to be deployed to Libya so they can help the internationally-recognized Government of National Accord (GNA), based in Tripoli in the western part of the country.

Two months ago, Ankara signed a security and military cooperation deal with the GNA, which was recently ratified by parliament.

Libya has been divided by warring factions after the US-led intervention toppled longtime leader Muammar Gaddafi in 2011.

The chief opponent of the GNA is the House of Representatives (HoR), based in the eastern city of Tobruk. Its army, led by Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, has launched several successful offensives westward this year, reaching the suburbs of Tripoli.

US uses ISIS as ‘scarecrow’ to intimidate others, while secretly backing them, Syrian FM tells RT

Despite claiming to fight jihadists in Syria, the Americans are gladly using them to further anti-Damascus policies and occasionally giving them a helping hand, the Syrian foreign minister told RT.

“The Americans are using ISIS as a scarecrow,” Minister Walid Muallem said in an interview with RT Arabic. “At the same time they are feeding ISIS, encourage them, protect ISIS leaders and help them move from one area to another.”

The US policy is aimed at investing into terrorism.

The Syrian government has long accused the US of fueling groups of foreign Islamist fighters, even those bragging of committing atrocities in Syria, as long as they were willing to fight against the forces loyal to Damascus. Washington claimed its illegal deployment of troops in Syria was aimed at destroying IS, but even after the group was declared defeated the American boots remain on the ground.

The latest public justification coming from the US is that oil in northeastern Syria needs to be “secured” from the defeated jihadists. In practice, the US denies the internationally recognized government of Syria of using the country’s national resources.

Muallem also said the US continues its attempts to topple the government he serves with various measures, including by targeting Damascus with economic sanctions. A new round of those is expected after the passage of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) earlier this month.

Part of the NDAA orders punishment of companies who would help the Syrian government in rebuilding infrastructure and the energy sector – which presumably should not be allowed to happen while President Bashar Assad remains in power.

“All nations that were victimized by this system need to join forces and resist those sanctions,” the Syrian official said.

Joe Biden Posts Family Christmas Photo, But Everyone Is Asking, “Where’s Hunter?”

Leading Democratic Party presidential candidate former Vice President Joe Biden posted a family photo Christmas greetings tweet Wednesday morning with wife Jill and six other family members gathered before a fireplace along with a heartfelt message, “May your time with loved ones be full of peace, laughter, and joy. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays. With love, from my family to yours.”

It’s a beautiful Christmas scene being played out all across America this morning, including for many families like the Bidens, the absence of the black sheep member of the family.

Motherhood is a PENALTY, UN’s gender equality body tweets on CHRISTMAS, gets trashed

UN Women is probably seeking the prize for the most tone-deaf tweet of the year. How else can their “motherhood penalty” post on the day many Christians celebrate the most important birthday on the calendar be explained?

The picture posted on Christmas cites things like “limited maternity benefits” and “gender pay gaps” as punishment for “being a mother.” The penalty was issued by one ‘P. Atriarchy’ and has been in force since the “beginning of time.”

Surely, empowering women and fighting for a fairer world where gender roles are no longer determined strictly by biology and are worthy causes. And blunt memes boiling complex matters down to the machinations of male suppressors may have their place, too.

But apparently the message didn’t go over so well with the audience. Comments on the tweets seem mostly negative. Some have countered that creating life is an exclusive and fulfilling experience, and that the family as an institution serves to share both the burdens and joys of parenthood.

The date of the post only added insult to injury, with some commenters saying it was meant as an attack on Christian values. It’s no surprise that some found the idea upsetting that bringing the savior of humanity into the world was somehow a penalty for Mary.

Pope Francis Offers Triple Shout-Out to Migrants in Christmas Blessing

ROME — Pope Francis made migrants the centerpiece of his Christmas blessing Wednesday, addressing the topic of immigration a remarkable three times in an 865-word message.

“May the newborn Lord bring light to the people of Africa, where persistent social and political situations often force individuals to migrate, depriving them of a home and family,” the pontiff said to the estimated 55,000 pilgrims and tourists gathered in Saint Peter’s Square.

Next, the pope declared that modern migration is the product of injustice and that migrants often find their efforts impeded by “walls of indifference.”

May the Son of God protect and sustain all those who, due to injustices “are forced to emigrate in the hope of a secure life,” he said in his Urbi et Orbi blessing.

“It is injustice that makes them cross deserts and seas that become cemeteries,” he said, adding:

It is injustice that forces them to ensure unspeakable forms of abuse, enslavement of every kind and torture in inhumane detention camps. It is injustice that turns them away from places where they might have hope for a dignified life, but instead find themselves before walls of indifference.

Finally, in his closing invocation of the blessings of the Christ Child upon “all the suffering members of our human family,” Francis once again brought up migrants.

“Through our friendship, such as it is, may he draw close to the elderly and the lonely, to migrants and the marginalized,” he said.

Pope Francis said Saturday that migrants are among the most vulnerable and marginalized members of society, while to God, no one is a “stranger.”

In his yearly Christmas address to the Roman Curia last Saturday, the pope called on the Church to promote the “integral development of the human person.”

This development takes place by “serving those who are most vulnerable and marginalized, particularly those forced to emigrate, who at the present time represent a voice crying in the wilderness of our humanity,” Francis said in an allusion to the biblical figure of Saint John the Baptist, the precursor of Jesus.

“The Church is thus called to remind everyone that it is not simply a matter of social or migration questions but of human persons, of our brothers and sisters who today are a symbol of all those discarded by the globalized society,” he said.

The Church “is called to testify that for God no one is a ‘stranger’ or an ‘outcast,’” he continued. “She is called to awaken consciences slumbering in indifference to the reality of the Mediterranean Sea, which has become for many, all too many, a cemetery.”

In his frequent addresses, Pope Francis has made immigration a hallmark of his pontificate, urging nations to open pathways to streamline migration, insisting that it furnishes opportunities for “racial mixing.”

Last Thursday, Pope Francis presided over the installation of a migrant crucifix in the Vatican, on which he had a migrant life jacket placed on the cross in place of the body of Jesus.

“We are facing another death caused by injustice,” Francis said in his address prior to the unveiling of the crucifix. “Yes, because it is injustice that forces many migrants to leave their lands. It is injustice that forces them to cross deserts and suffer abuse and torture in detention camps. It is injustice that rejects them and makes them die at sea.”

“I decided to exhibit this life jacket, ‘crucified’ on this cross, to remind us that we must keep our eyes open, keep our hearts open, to remind everyone of the absolute commitment to save every human life, a moral duty that unites believers and non-believers,” he said.

“I thank the Lord for all those who have decided not to remain indifferent and do their utmost to help the victim, without asking too many questions about how or why the poor half-dead person wound up on their street,” Francis said. “It is not by blocking their boats that the problem is solved.”

Millennials are turning to magic & astrology for ‘empowerment’ because liberal ideology failed them

Increasingly open to astrology, magic and sorcery while happy to virtue signal on behalf of any PC-saturated issue, the entire millenial generation seems wholly unequipped to face the daunting challenges of adulthood.

They may not know how to change a flat tire, cook a simple meal or stop living in their parents' basement, but Millennials – the tech-savvy demographic typically born between the years 1981 to the early 2000s – seem increasingly preoccupied with subjects of a less practical nature ever since graduating from college.

Whether it is symptomatic of Trump Derangement Syndrome, some kind of New Age mysticism or perhaps spending four long years studying impractical liberal arts courses, it’s hard to say. But many people are looking to empower themselves with alternative techniques once ridiculed as sheer quackery.

This week, for example, NBC published a lengthy essay that celebrated the rise of interest in astrology “in an insecure world.”

Over 100 Swedish Churches Have Permanently Closed Since 2000

As numbers of active parishioners continue to decline across Sweden, the Church of Sweden has been forced to permanently close 104 churches, as some speak of repurposing the buildings for other uses including mosques.

Last year saw the largest number of churches shut down with the small nordic nation losing 10 of its national churches in 12 months, but the trend of church closures shows little sign of abating in the near future, Swedish tabloid Corren reports.

Markus Dahlberg, who heads cultural heritage in the Church of Sweden, commented on the closures saying, “It is something we will [have to] live with for a long time to come.”

Dahlberg listed several reasons for the surge in church closures, including an overall decline in church membership, a decline in attendance of services and a trend of rural individuals moving to larger cities.

A report released last year claimed that the Church of Sweden could lose as many as a million members within a ten-year period, with örje Holgersson, chairman of the church council of Lima-Transtrand in Västerås, stating that fewer parishioners meant less money to spend on the upkeep of churches.

The Church of Sweden currently has around 3,000 churches across the country and while it receives 460 million Swedish krona (£37m/$48m) per year for the upkeep of church buildings, the money does not come close to covering the actual costs, accounting for just a quarter of the money required.

While some of the closed churches have simply been demolished, others have been repurposed into housing, sold to other Christian denominations or made into museums. When asked if the churches might be offered to Muslim groups to turn into mosques, Dahlberg claimed he did not know.

Senior members of the clergy of the Chruch of Sweden have expressed a fondness for Islam in the recent past, with Stockholm lesbian Archbishop Eva Brunne even offering to convert parts of churches into Muslim prayer spaces in 2015 and later claimed she had more in common with Muslims than conservative Christians.

It’s Christmas! So a British Newspaper Is Encouraging Wives to Cheat on Their Husbands… Again

Christmas is a time for tradition — bringing a tree into the house, midnight mass, giving gifts… and being repeatedly encouraged to cheat on your husband by a respected, small-c conservative national newspaper.

This is a tradition in the sense that 2019 is the second festive season in a row where British broadsheet newspaper the Daily Telegraph — which enjoys a strong legacy reputation as being the standard-bearer for the intelligent, conservative right in the United Kingdom — has bombarded its male social media followers with messages to encourage their wives to cheat on them as a Christmas present.

The December 2018 article Why men should give their wives a cheat pass this Christmas was ridiculed on social media when it was first published over a year ago as being so apparently totally out of character with the newspaper. Essentially an extended advertisement for a book whose author’s quotes on freeing women from their husbands makes up the majority of the copy, the article also cites societal decline as proof of the central thesis of the work.

For instance:

Martin, whose 2015 book Primates of Park Avenue: A Memoir became a New York Times bestseller, is not alone in her espousal of such ideas. This year has seen, if not an explosion, then at least a creeping insinuation into our culture of the idea that monogamy might not be the only approach to long-term relationships… Meanwhile we’ve had an MP, Labour’s Jess Phillips, recommending that schoolgirls should be taught about orgasms.

Perhaps the most mystifying thing about Why men should give their wives a cheat pass this Christmas is the Telegraph’s loyal and dogged promotion of it, apparently out of all proportion for a humble book-plug and of all times, especially around Christmas. Having originally fired this ode to polyamory into the Twittersphere on December 7th 2018, the experiment was repeated again on December 11th of that year.

Israel prevents hundreds of Gaza's Christians from Bethlehem Christmas pilgrimage despite lifting ban

Christians from around the world have arrived in the West Bank town of Bethlehem ahead of Christmas day, while hundreds of Palestinian Christians from Gaza have been blocked by Israel from undertaking the pilgrimage.

Over 3.5 million tourists visit the city during this time, queuing to visit the grotto inside Bethlehem's Church of the Nativity, believed to be the exact site where Jesus was born.

Palestinian tourism minister Rula Maaya told AFP it had been a good year, but fewer Christians from the Gaza Strip were in attendance than in previous years.

Wadie Abunassar, an advisor to and spokesman for church leaders in the Holy Land, said out of the 951 applications from Gazans so far, only 192 had been granted.

This comes after Israel announced on Sunday that it will allow Christians in the Gaza Strip to travel to Jerusalem and the West Bank for Christmas, reversing an April decision to ban them from leaving the besieged Palestinian enclave.

The Palestinian territories of the West Bank and Gaza are separated by Israeli territory and crossing between them requires hard-to-get permits.

Abunassar said Christmas remained a time for hope.

"The Holy Land is not only the site of the birth and crucifixion (of Jesus), it is also the place of resurrection," he told AFP.

Saudi Artillery Strikes Kill 17 at Yemen Border Market

12 Ethiopian migrants reportedly among the slain

Cross-border shelling by Saudi Arabian forces against a popular marketplace on the Yemeni side of the border killed at least 17 people, according to locals. Indications are that everyone killed was a civilian, and the Saudis have not commented on why they attacked.

The sources said 12 Ethiopian migrants were among those killed in Yemen, and that 15 people were wounded and taken to hospitals for treatment. The market has been attacked several times by Saudi forces.

The market doesn’t seem to have any military significance, but it is in Saada Province, which is the main province of the Houthi movement. This seems to be reason enough for the Saudis to regularly attack them.

Saudi attacks killing civilians have fueled a lot of international opposition to the ongoing Yemen War, and calls in several nations to stop selling the Saudis so many weapons.

Israel says filing error to blame for strike that killed nine members of al-Sawarka family

Israeli army says the home of the Palestinian family was not a military compound as it was previously categorized

Israel has said that an attack on the Gaza Strip which killed nine Palestinians from the same family happened after the premises were mistakenly categorised as a "military compound" used by Islamic Jihad.

In November, Israel conducted a series of air strikes on the Gaza Strip after it assassinated a senior Islamic Jihad commander and his wife.

The Palestinian armed group retaliated to the assassination by launching a barrage of rockets into Israel, before the two parties agreed on a ceasefire following joint Egyptian and UN mediation.

US Defense Secretary Eyes Pullout From West Africa

Redeployment from region would be first in moves aimed at Russia and China

US Defense Secretary Mark Esper is interested in seeing a substantial reduction in troops and operations ongoing in Western Africa, with the troops being redeployed to areas closer to Russia and China.

This comes, ironically, amid speculation about the Islamist factions in the Sahel, and suggestions this might be a growing priority for the US. Esper, however, has made much of wanting to have more troops directly lined up against Russia and China for “Great Power” competitions.

Among the pullouts in West Africa would be ending US operations in Mali, Niger, and Burkina Faso. The end of US involvement in Niger would include abandoning the $110 million drone base that the US just got finished building and bringing into operation.

After West Africa, the plan is that the US will also draw down forces in Latin America, and subsequently then cut troop levels in Iraq and Afghanistan, all as part of a new pivot to Eastern Europe and the Pacific.

Exactly how many troops are going to be involved isn’t clear, and indeed how many troops are in some of these areas is not publicly known any longer, given the Pentagon’s recent opacity on such figures.

The eagerness to make such moves at all represents Esper having only recently taken over the Defense Secretary post, and wanting to put his stamp on it.

Social Media and Social Control: How Silicon Valley Serves the US State Department

Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg is in the spotlight for “dining with far-right figures,” and their influence over the information that appears in your feed is apparent. However, Facebook isn’t the only Silicon Valley firm that’s masquerading as nonpartisan as it curates the “facts” you see in ads, posts, or searches: Google, Twitter, Microsoft, and others are deeply wedded to the U.S. security state and the billionaires it upholds.

Walter Lippmann’s groundbreaking 1922 study of the news media, “Public Opinion,” begins with a chapter titled, “The World Outside and the Pictures in our Heads,” in which he presents the media as a bottleneck through which information about the world beyond the perception of our senses must pass. Aside from the question of which stories get passed through that bottleneck, which information about an event that survives the crucible of condensation into an article, news bulletin or wire is determined by the biases of the writer and editor. In turn, control over that information bottleneck gives the controller incredible power to shape the consciousness of readers about “the world outside” – the “manufacturing of consent,” as Lippmann originally described it.

The depth of information about the world made available by the internet seems to remove the bottleneck about which Lippmann fretted — indeed, a generation of techie evangelists tried to present it in just such a manner — but the truth is that it only further obscured both the bottlenecks and the crucibles that distill information for our consumption.

The media giants that control our access to information, from search engines like Google to social media like Facebook, have turned themselves into portals to the world and present themselves as impartial in that role. However, behind a facade of separateness, strong connecting links bind the tech giants to the oligarchy and security state on which they rely, giving the interests of the elite determinative influence over which information we access.

This article will expose and discuss some of the many ways this shady web of influence and oversight operates.

The revolving door between these tech companies and intelligence agencies, think tanks, defense contractors and security companies is constantly revolving, especially at the higher echelons of important departments, like cybersecurity. Notably, many of these companies cater along partisan lines depending on the political proclivities of their owners, in a bid to tip the scales toward their point of view.

They have embraced this role as an information portal, offering special “news” sections on their platforms. They are rolling out new apps to judge the trustworthiness of news sources. Facebook and Google, in particular, have also become two of the largest funders of journalism around the world, helping to further entrench State Department-approved models of truth in key hotspots of geopolitical interest.

This cyberpunk dystopia isn’t a new perversion of a previously free internet, though – in fact, it is the internet’s raison d’être in the first place.

The U.S. State Department’s Iran Action Group later cited the Facebook and Twitter takedowns in a September 2018 report titled “Outlaw Regime: A Chronicle of Iran’s Destructive Activities,” in which it attempted to lay out the ideological groundwork for its present offensive against Iran. Curiously, the State Department’s report didn’t mention FireEye’s report.

The sweeps soon became regular, following a standard pattern. Another takedown in May 2019 saw Twitter and Facebook cooperate to cull “more than 2,800 inauthentic accounts originating in Iran,” according to Twitter Site Integrity Chief Yoel Roth, as well as 51 accounts, 36 pages, seven groups and three Instagram accounts on Facebook, according to Gleicher. The tip came from FireEye. Sputnik News noted the shady nature of the move, with Facebook admitting it never looked at the FireEye report before acting – a report that expressed low confidence in the researchers’ findings.

In a previous takedown in February, Facebook and Twitter again shared intel, this time from the DFRL, showing the accounts were involved in “attempted influence campaigns” by Iran, Venezuela and Russia. However, on a conference call with reporters, Gleicher was forced to admit that Facebook couldn’t actually tie any of the activity to the Iranian government, saying only “we can prove and feel confident” in their origins, without providing further evidence.

FireEye and DRFL

FireEye isn’t just some well-meaning cybersecurity startup, though: since 2009, FireEye has collected venture capital funding from In-Q-Tel, the CIA’s investment arm. In a statement at the time, In-Q-Tel said it would maintain a “strategic partnership” with FireEye, calling it a “critical addition to our strategic investment portfolio for security technologies.”

Started as In-Q-It in 1999 with CIA seed money, In-Q-Tel’s investment has poured money into firms judged useful to the U.S. intelligence service, such as the failing company Keyhole, which it bought in 2003. Spun off from a video game outfit, Keyhole aimed to stitch together satellite images and aerial photographs of the planet to form a 3-D digital world that users could navigate.

Buttressed with CIA funds, Keyhole partnered with the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency to provide essential services for the 2003 U.S. invasion of Iraq. Google bought the company the following year, redubbing it as Google Earth, and acquiring with it In-Q-Tel executive Rob Painter, who sat on Keyhole’s board of directors and provided a new link between Google and the U.S. intelligence and defense contracting spheres.

The other tip source, the Digital Forensic Research Lab, is a division of the Atlantic Council which, while a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit, is only proforma independent of the U.S. state as one of the preeminent Washington think tanks influencing foreign policy.

In its About Us section, DFRL says its mission is to “identify, expose, and explain disinformation where and when it occurs using open source research; to promote objective truth as a foundation of government for and by people; to protect democratic institutions and norms from those who would seek to undermine them in the digital engagement space.” Lofty goals, were they not voiced by a think tank that’s funded by a bevy of defense contractors, Gulf monarchies, and even the NATO alliance itself.

Facebook has also buttressed its State Department line-towing credentials by adding to their staff figures like Gleicher, Facebook’s chief of Cybersecurity Policy, who is also a senior associate at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), another hawkish think tank with major influence on U.S. foreign policy that’s funded by many of the same actors as the Atlantic Council. Likewise, Facebook’s new Public Policy Manager for Ukraine, Kateryna Kruk, is a rabid Russophobe who participated in the 2014 U.S.-backed coup d’etat that brought the fascist Svoboda party to power in Ukraine, turning that country’s government against not only Moscow but their own Russian-speaking Ukrainian minorities.

Facebook dragging its feet in handing over enough user data to them has led to threats of withdrawal from the program. The group Social Science One, which has managed the question for Facebook since the AI sorting began in April 2018, has been hesitant to ‘okay’ data divulgence with Knight and Koch after what happened with Cambridge Analytica.

A March 2018 expose by a company whistleblower revealed that political data firm Cambridge Analytica had gained access to the private information of 87 million Americans via Facebook apps that collected data not only on the app’s users, but on their friends as well. Funded primarily by Trump’s fascistic former adviser Steve Bannon and infamous Republican moneyman Robert Mercer, Cambridge Analytica was hired by Trump’s 2016 election campaign to crunch numbers on voters.

According to the New York Times, the firm’s goal was to “map personality traits based on what people had liked on Facebook, and then use that information to target audiences with digital ads.” However, Facebook for years attempted to cover up its complacency with this operation, a very obvious violation of users’ privacy, and even after the expose, continued to claim it wasn’t a data breach because users had consented to divulge the information when they downloaded the apps in question.

At its core, Facebook, like all social media as well as Google, is a huge vacuum for personal information and behavioral data to be used by advertisers and other actors. That’s their business model: selling your information to corporations in order to market you products more effectively, and providing information to the U.S. intelligence community that can help it identify threats before they appear. In this way, social media are the true torch-carriers of ARPANET, the first internet, crafted by the Pentagon’s Advanced Research Projects Agency (ARPA, now called DARPA) to provide intricate social models for combating communist insurgencies in Southeast Asia.

ARPANET: counterinsurgency computing

In the wake of the Soviet Union launching the first artificial satellite, Sputnik 1, in 1957, the U.S. government rushed to close the technological gap by sponsoring a greater educational focus on the STEM fields on the one hand, but also the development of a secretive emerging technologies R&D bureau to imagine, create, and test the high-tech weapons of the future for the Pentagon to use – what journalist Sharon Weinberger in her history of (D)ARPA called “the imagineers of war.”

ARPA was created the following year and quickly enlisted in defense of anti-communist U.S. puppet Ngô Đình Diệm, whose government in South Vietnam was quickly failing amid a burgeoning communist insurgency led by the National Liberation Front. ARPA’s first big operation, Project AGILE, began in 1961 with the goal of enlisting computers, then clunky machines used primarily for census-counting and artillery trajectory calculations, into helping sort through huge amounts of personal data on citizens in order to better determine when, where, and by whom a rebellion is likely to occur. AGILE’s mission statement, as noted in a 1971 General Accounting Office report, described the program’s goals in part as “Research and development supporting the DOD’s operations in remote areas, associated with the problems of actual or potential limited or subversive wars involving allied or friendly nations in such areas.”

Space Force Has Its First Launch: An Official Website

The U.S. Space Force has launched its official website, giving prospective service members a glimpse into the military's newest branch and how they can join the space mission.

Spaceforce.mil went live shortly after President Donald Trump signed the fiscal 2020 National Defense Authorization Act on Friday evening. The website also connects to the branch's official social media pages, USSpaceForceDoD on Facebook and @SpaceForceDoD on Twitter.

Space Force falls under the U.S. Air Force, so recruits can surf the Air Force's career website, AirForce.com, to search for space-related jobs – including space operations, space systems operations, missile- and space-related maintenance and protection of missile and space facilities.

"The U.S. Space Force, an independent service singularly focused on protecting our interests and security in space, launches the nation into a new era," Air Force leaders said in a letter to the force Dec. 20. Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. David Goldfein, Air Force Secretary Barbara Barrett and Gen. John Raymond, the head of U.S. Space Command and recent Chief of Space Operations appointee, all signed the letter.

Netanyahu: Putin said that if I were not PM, Israel and Russia would be at war

In rare interview ahead of Likud primary, PM refuses to answer whether he will seek immunity from prosecution or what he’ll do if High Court rules he can’t form government

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu claimed Wednesday that Russian President Vladimir Putin told him the two countries could have found themselves at war had it not been for the close relationship between their leaders.

“Putin told me that were it not for our relationship, we could have found ourselves in the midst of a military clash… Only because we meet every few months has this been avoided,” Netanyahu said in a rare interview with Army Radio, a day before the Likud leadership primary.

“We have four times come close to collisions — our planes in Syria’s crowded airspace almost collided with Russian planes,” the premier continued, speaking openly regarding Israel’s conduct beyond its borders.

IDF chief warns Israelis: The next war will hit our home front extremely hard

Top military commander vows Israel will block Iranian threats ‘even at risk of war,’ laments IDF is alone in fight against Tehran

IDF Chief of Staff Aviv Kohavi on Wednesday lamented that Israel is alone in the fight against Iran and its proxies in the Middle East, as the Islamic Republic grows increasingly aggressive in the region. “It would be better if we weren’t the only ones responding to them [militarily]”, Kohavi said, in an apparent criticism of the United States and Persian Gulf countries, who also see Iran as a major foe.

The military chief, in his first major speech, said the IDF was operating throughout the region — openly, covertly and clandestinely — in order to thwart the plans of Iran and its proxies, “even at the risk of war.”

He also issued a bleak warning to Israelis that the next war, when it came, would hit the home front hard. “It must be known and recognized that in the next war — whether in the north or against Hamas — heavy fire will be directed against our home front. I’m looking people in the eye, and saying, there will be heavy fire. We have to recognize this and we have to prepare for this… We have to prepare for this militarily; the civil hierarchies have to prepare for this; and we have to prepare for this mentally.”

The Truth About The Deep State

The repeated and ongoing attempts to take down Donald Trump have led to claims that he is a victim of something called the Deep State. There are two extreme positions regarding this narrative. The first is that Trump is indeed the victim of a massive conspiracy. The second is that this conspiracy is so massive that the only place it can exist is in the mind’s of “conspiracy theorists” and that any and all attempts to overthrow Trump are justified.

The reality is that the conspiracy against Trump is very real, and if it has been exaggerated at all, this exaggeration is minimal. Furthermore, those with long memories will recall a certain Hillary Clinton alluding to a “vast right wing conspiracy” to destroy her husband’s Presidency.

Before proceeding, some necessary explanation to dispell the stupid semantic games of the mainstream media. The dictionary definition of a conspiracy is a combination of persons for an evil or unlawful purpose. That is all. A conspiracy requires a minimum of two people. When E. Jean Carroll claimed Donald Trump raped her two decades and more ago, the truth about this phantom rape was soon revealed. A 2012 episode of an American TV series featured the same unlikely scenario of a woman being raped in the lingerie department of the Bergdorf Goodman department store.

Shortly, Media Matters contributor Alex Kaplan published a lengthy article in which he claimed this was a conspiracy theory, adding that Carroll told two people shortly afterwards. The truth is there was no conspiracy here because it was not suggested that Carroll concocted this claim in collaboration with anyone. She is simply away with the fairies whatever her friends now claim, but to call her detractors conspiracy theorists sounds good.

Hillary Clinton’s earlier claim was probably due partly to the claims of sexual harassment and worse that were levelled at her husband. However disgraceful was Bill Clinton’s treatment of Monica Lewinsky, men like him and Donald Trump don’t need to prey on “victims”, victims come to them. It is only years or decades later they realise they were victims, that’s if they even met the alleged abuser in the first place.

Returning to conspiracies in general, it will be seen that the dictionary definition is sufficiently broad to encompass most human activity. An atheist may considered religion evil, and a believer may consider atheism evil. As both believers and non-believers organise, most of humanity can be considered conspirators by that measure alone. Where does that get us?

The reality is that broadly speaking there are two types of conspiracies: open and closed. Theists, atheists, pornographers, censors…any category you care to name, can all be considered members of open conspiracies because they operate openly and legally. On the other hand, a closed conspiracy – anything from a paedophile ring to a terrorist cell – can only operate in secret because of legal suppression.

Colorado Springs man reportedly robs bank, throws money into the air and yells,”Merry Christmas”

A 65-year-old man was arrested Monday after robbing a bank in downtown Colorado Springs, before reportedly walking outside, throwing the money into air and yelling, “Merry Christmas!”

Around 12:27 p.m. Monday, David Oliver allegedly threatened employees of the Academy Bank at 1 South Tejon Street with a weapon, leaving the bank with an undisclosed amount of cash, according to the Colorado Springs police blotter.

A witness told KKTV that Oliver then walked outside, threw the bills into the air and shouted his festive message. Sgt. Jim Jeffocat, a Colorado Springs police spokesman, would not confirm that money was thrown into air or that Oliver yelled “Merry Christmas.”

Oliver then sat on the patio of the Starbucks coffee shop next door, where police arrested him without conflict, police said. A Starbucks manager who answered the phone Tuesday said Oliver didn’t order a drink and nobody in the store seemed to pay him any mind.

Some of the money was retrieved but thousands of dollars remain missing, Jeffcoat said. The witness told KKTV that people walking down the street stopped to pick up the flying bills to return to the bank tellers.

Officers found no indication that Oliver was armed with a weapon, Jeffcoat said.

Marco Rubio: FBI was justified to ask for FISA to surveil Carter Page

Republican Sen. Marco Rubio tells CNN’s Jake Tapper that he doesn’t think investigators “did anything wrong” when they applied for surveillance on Carter Page.

‘I don’t think they [FBI] did anything wrong, I think they went to the court, they got the judges to approve it, they laid out all the information…and there was a lot of reasons…unrelated to the dossier for why they looked at Carter Page” said Marco Rubio.

21 State Attorneys General Ask Supreme Court to Void Maryland Gun Law

A coalition of 21 state attorneys general is asking the Supreme Court to strike down a Maryland law that denies concealed carry permits unless applicants can convince local officials they have a “good and substantial reason” to be granted one by local authorities.

West Virginia Attorney General Patrick Morrisey, a Republican, and the other state officials filed a friend-of-the-court brief with the Supreme Court Dec. 18 in a case cited as Malpasso v. Pallozzi. Morrisey and the others want to expand the scope of protection afforded to gun-ownership rights after the high court ruled in District of Columbia v. Heller (2010), that the right to possess a firearm is an individual right, and in McDonald v. Chicago (2012), that the right of an individual to “keep and bear arms” applies to the states.

Apart from West Virginia, the other states that participated in the brief are Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Kansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Texas, and Utah.

The question former U.S. Solicitor General Paul Clement, a veteran of Second Amendment battles, put before the court in the petition for certiorari filed Sept. 26, is, “Whether the Second Amendment allows the government to prohibit typical, law-abiding citizens from carrying handguns outside the home for self defense in any manner.”

There are 41 states that have enacted what are called shall-issue licensing regimes that allow all law-abiding citizens who meet objective criteria to lawfully carry handguns outside the home.

Morrisey said in a statement the Maryland law “reduces that fundamental right to a privilege—one the state grants only to the rare citizen who can demonstrate to a bureaucrat’s satisfaction that he or she is in dire-enough straits to warrant carrying a handgun.”

The right to self-defense, “no less than the threats that might precipitate a need to act in self-defense, necessarily extends beyond the four walls of one’s home,” Clement’s petition states.

“That conclusion is compelled by the text and structure of the Second Amendment, by the history of the right it protects, and by any fair reading of Heller. Consistent with that understanding, the vast majority of states protect the right of their citizens to carry handguns outside the home for self defense.
