There were 10 originals in the OT, all clumped together -- one right after the other. After Jesus arrived, one was not necessary any more. I'll let you figure out which ... it's a tease and a puzzle. Then he stated two new ones in the New Testament. Basically the new ones summarized the first batch in that we should (1) love God with our whole being and (2) love our fellow man just as we loved ourselves. This second love is the proper and natural outgrowth of the first one.

If you love God, you will love what he has created, no? Well, he created you and your neighbors and you are to love both yourself AND your neighbors.

Which leads to the question of just who IS your 'neighbor' and who might be your brother or sister?

There are a ton of laws in Leviticus and Deuteronomy (the book of the law and the "second breathing" -- largely a restatement of Leviticus) but they are not presented as commandments. The 11 I refer to were identified as commandments.

You watched him order the hit yesterday during his Yule vid. We just don't understand the code yet.

But we will. And when we do we'll tie it in a bow and pass it along to Q & co. for resolution.

In the meantime, perhaps we should pay more attention to Mr. Spacey on a more personal level?
