U.S. veteran Gretchen Smith posted a video of a woman standing on a sidewalk in Brooklyn, NY. In the video, that’s been seen 11 million times, a woman is standing on a street in Brooklyn. Behind the woman, another woman is passing by wearing a hijab. The signs on the building behind her are written in Arabic.

The woman videotaping herself in the video appears to be confused by the loudspeaker blasting Islamic prayer onto the streets. She silently mouths the words “What the F***?” and then jokingly covers her face, while looking around.

After a few seconds of checking out her surroundings, she asks, “What’s going on? This is Brooklyn!”

Gretchen Smith replies to the video: “Come on Brooklyn NY you can do better than this! This is The United States of America. This is wrong on every level!”

Santa appears to be delivering some good economic news this Christmas season for President Donald Trump, as his economic policies seem to have created a flurry of both spending and earning.

The Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA) has reported personal income rose $101.7 billion (0.5%) in November, exceeding the previous projections it had made. The gains were primarily related to employee compensation.

The gain was primarily driven by better compensation for employees, as well as farm proprietors’ income, and personal interest income.

Forecasts ranged from a low of 0.2% to a high of 0.4%. The consensus forecast was 0.3%.

Disposable personal income (DPI) rose $87.7 billion (0.5%) and consumer spending continued to come in stronger than expected. Personal consumption expenditures (PCE) gained $64.9 billion (0.4%).

‘Deadliest ever’: Russia launches new 4th-gen nuclear-powered submarine (VIDEO)

The advanced Yasen-M nuclear-powered submarine has been launched in Russia. The new ship, which is expected to join the Navy next year, is capable of carrying all existing Russian cruise missiles – and likely more.

The launch ceremony was held at the Sevmash shipyard in Russia’s northwestern city of Severodvinsk on Wednesday. It comes just a few days after the shipyard marked its 80th anniversary – and an event such as this is the best way to mark the occasion, Deputy Director General of Sevmash Sergey Voronko said.

Footage of the launch ceremony was released to the general public – and it does not show much, since the new vessel remains top secret. The video only shows the stern of the submarine and its propeller in detail, giving room for speculation.

The new vessel called the Novosibirsk, which is expected to join the ranks of the Russian Navy next year, is the first mass produced submarine of its type. The maiden Yasen-M submarine, the Kazan, is still undergoing naval trials and is expected to join the Navy in 2020 as well. Four more submarines of the type are under construction, and at least two more are expected to be laid down later – presumably next year.

The kindness and class of Donald John Trump

Sometimes all it takes is one action to know someone’s kindness and class.

President Trump has many such actions: the kiss on the head of the young boy who hugged President Trump while signing the Right to Try Act, the honor bestowed on Miosotis Familia, a New York City police officer killed in the line of duty, and the honor he shows our vets as they respond with serious hugs, no simple pats on the arm for our president.

The ultimate simple act that displayed President Trump’s kindness and class was his hand on Kim Jong Un’s back guiding him to the right door during the North Korea-United States Singapore Summit. It takes class to show respect for someone who has not earned it. What Kim earned was a bullet to his head for how he tortured one of our young American men, Otto Warmbier, leaving him brain damaged.

During this simple act, I suspect President Trump was thinking of Otto at the hands of this cruel dictator. For the greater good, at the chance of denuclearization, our president did what he had to do. What we have learned in three years of President Trump’s administration is that he works tirelessly for the American citizens and he does it with kindness and class. We love our president.

However, Facebook isn’t the only Silicon Valley firm that’s masquerading as nonpartisan as it curates the “facts” you see in ads, posts, or searches: Google, Twitter, Microsoft, and others are deeply wedded to the U.S. security state and the billionaires it upholds.

Walter Lippmann’s groundbreaking 1922 study of the news media, “Public Opinion,” begins with a chapter titled, “The World Outside and the Pictures in our Heads,” in which he presents the media as a bottleneck through which information about the world beyond the perception of our senses must pass. Aside from the question of which stories get passed through that bottleneck, which information about an event that survives the crucible of condensation into an article, news bulletin or wire is determined by the biases of the writer and editor. In turn, control over that information bottleneck gives the controller incredible power to shape the consciousness of readers about “the world outside” – the “manufacturing of consent,” as Lippmann originally described it.

The depth of information about the world made available by the internet seems to remove the bottleneck about which Lippmann fretted — indeed, a generation of techie evangelists tried to present it in just such a manner — but the truth is that it only further obscured both the bottlenecks and the crucibles that distill information for our consumption.

Parents Walk Out of Public Meeting in Protest over Transgender Bathroom Policy

Parents from the Manchester, Indiana public school district walked out of a school meeting focused on gender identity after being barred from discussing a transgender bathroom policy.

During the meeting, the parents attempted to voice their concerns about the policy that permits biological boys who claim to identify as girls to use the girls’ bathrooms in the Manchester Elementary School.
