Great 3-minute clip from Young Americas Foundation posted today.

Newt Gingrich vs. Leftists

https://youtu.be/pLXiC92ktDU

My notes:

Newt was asked, “What he thought about the Progressive mentality?”

Newt said, “It is more helpful to talk about what works and what doesn’t.” and then Newt went on:

The thing that strikes me about CA is the degree to which the elites who currently dominate California are turning it into Venezuela.

It’s NUTS that 2.4million Californians have no electricity on a recurring basis.

The essence of the American system is pragmatism – Figure out what works and do it. (Pragmatism - described by William James as the only uniquely American philosophy.)

The Fact that you can’t figure out how to clean-out the underbrush to prevent huge forest fires is pretty stupid.

The Fact that you can’t figure out the right regulations to incentives the electric company to put in new lines so they’re not starting fires is pretty stupid.

The Fact that CA won’t use straws because they might hurt the ocean, yet SF sends millions of needles into the sea. [is pretty stupid]

These things do NOT just happen to us. They are the product of a stunning bad government, which has been spending 20yrs taking California out of the 21st century and taking it back into the 19th.

It is astonishing to me. I’ve been watching for the past 10-15yrs as the systems have been girding down and being dumber and dumber and behaving as though they have no choice.

Typhus outbreak is going to happen because too many people are living on the streets.

Go look at what happens in countries when they move to socialism. It is a function of fact:

“To believe in socialism is a sign of true ignorance.”

It [Socialism] transfers power to government. The government is inevitably corrupted and inevitably that means that the poor get crushed and end up starving. And, the handful of people around the government do just fine, which is how the government survives – because it pays off the people who prop it up.

The Federal Aviation Administration, or FAA, said the proposed rule would require all drones operating in the United States to be compliant within three years.
