Re Ruslan Shaveddinov being forcibly conscripted (allegedly), and popping up on Novaya Zemlaya ( unclear which island)—can hardly suppress a smile. In fact, it is totally unsuppressed. Grin. Taking the old way of putting enemies in Siberia to the nth extreme. We are talking the literal ends of the earth. Ice is your best friend. A minus 20 reading is a heat wave. Clearly, this guy pissed off Vlad, & the nads say he deserves his fate. Duty will be scraping up frozen guano. Every. Single. Day. Inquiring minds might suspect that he had something to do with the attack on FSB headquarters.
About Severnaya Zemlya GeorgyUshakov wrote in 1931 (Wikipedia):
"I have seen God-forsaken Chukotka Peninsula, blizzard-ridden Wrangel Island, twice visited fog-enshrouded Novaya Zemlya, and I have seen Franz Josef Land with its enamel sky and proud cliffs garbed in blue, hardened glacial streams, but nowhere did I witness such grimness or such depressing, lifeless relief…"
The same piece notes that the permanent population is zero.
Ruslan: Where are you taking me?
Officer: Get dressed, snicker. Novaya Zemlaya, population….you. (Entire air crew guffaws)
