Same here a week and a half ago anon. I sent my wire out of the room, I held him and spoke softly to him so he wouldn't be afraid. I've had to do it many times over the years and it never is easy. I take comfort knowing one day it will be a heck of a home coming with all my friends. The Love they give, unconditionally, a gift from God.

It's gut wrenching anon but your right, it is the least we can do. As hard as it is, I wouldn't have it done any other way. Very compassionate vet we have, first they gave him a sedative to relax him and let my wife and I spend as much time with him as we wanted, it also took his pain away. He was very comfortable and without fear, it was very hard, but loving.
