Jesus and his story and teachings were manipulated by the Pagans. His message and his sayings. But believe that Jesus sacrificed himself for us. He knew it was going to happen. Whatever you believe is fine, you have that right. I am rethinking Catholicism but I will never revoke Jesus and his message. His message was LOVE. If you believe in loving your neighbor more than yourself than you are practicing Jesus and his teachings. He never wanted idolatory, he just wanted us to love eachother.

I understand what you are saying. Completely. I have had those thoughts myself. Reconcile the God portrayed with in old testament with the new. Are we to believe God changed and is now loving.
Religion was used to manipulate and control the population. I dont personally picture GOD as a strict ruler over us. We are a part of God believe it or not. We would not be here if it wasnt for him. What is so wrong with Love. And treating others how you want to be treated. God is Love, our natural nature is to be loving. Greed and ego gets in the way. God gave us free will.

I guess what the jist of what I was saying is over the ages mankind misused religion and perverted it to their benefit. For example Jesus was not born in December. I have researched this extensively…the consensus is either March or Sep. But more likely March. They decided to trick us to celebrate the winter solstice which was an ancient pagan tradition, including the trees in the house to celebrate.
Go with what your heart and conscious tells you. That will give you a guide more than anything
