God isn't a wizard that waved his hands around and magiced the world into existence. He is the one and only being that can implement his machinations by defining the basic physics of the universe and letting it run naturally to the intended outcome. I'm always annoyed by those who insisted on belittling him down to their cartoonish view of him molding dust particles together into the shape of Man and then zapping it to life. Genesis 1-2 is a metaphor that a bronze age culture could understand and one that was not meant to be contrasted with bigbang/evolution theory, but the creation myths of the mesopotamian culture that surrounded them.
