USAspending.gov has over $10M paid to InfoGroup, and according to the the InfoGroup website, InfoUSA is part of that group. In the 'grants' column are "misc. foreign awards" which are always suspect b/c they don't really give a lot of information. Clicked on the first $41k Dept. of State 'grant' - to the Minsk Library for the following description: "Assisting the recipient in arranging program area at Minsk InfoUSA to ensure free access to information about United States and build programming." With the exception of 2 grants (one to CZECHIA, and one for a conference attendee), all went to Belarus. Since the descriptions are all caps, can't really be sure if the grants are related to the company InfoUSA or a DoS program by the same name. That isn't true of the actual contracts, however, which are more clear. Interesting that a 'dirty data' group was used to provide the Dept. of Commerce w/a household database for use in the census. The contract address is Papillon, Nebraska - the company website says Omaha - 12 minutes away according to Bing Maps. Just a SWAG that they are same/same. Interesting pattern of payments...
Bill Clinton was, according to a letter in the DoS FOIA reading room, a paid consultant to InfoUSA and his relationship w/them ended in 2007.
