Trump tied with Obama for ‘most admired man’ of the year

Despite years of ‘Russiagate’ accusations and an ongoing impeachment drive against him, President Donald Trump has tied with former President Barack Obama as America’s most admired man of 2019, according to a new poll.

In the survey, published by Gallup on Monday, 18 percent of respondents named the current occupant of the White House as their most admired man, while another 18 percent named his predecessor. No other man - in a top ten that included entrepreneur Elon Musk, Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders, and the Dalai Lama - scored higher than two percent.

2019 marks Obama’s 12th year in the top spot, but Trump’s first. The president’s ascendancy to pole position comes amid rising approval levels. Gallup notes that public support for Trump has risen from 36 percent in 2017, to 40 percent in 2018, to 45 percent this year.

Iran Warns US of ‘Consequences’ After Airstrikes in Iraq, Syria

Iran threatened the United States with “consequences” after Washington carried out airstrikes against an Iran-backed militia in Iraq, which came after the designated terrorist group killed an American defense contractor during strikes of its own.

The United States “has demonstrated its decisive support for terrorism and disregard for the independence and sovereignty of nations by launching these attacks, and it must accept the responsibility for the consequences of such illegal measures,” claimed Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Abbas Mosavi, reported the state-run Tasnim News agency.

In a statement from the Department of Defense on Sunday, the Pentagon meted out “precision defensive strikes against” Kata’ib Hezbollah (KH) militant positions in Iraq and Syria after the group attacked U.S. coalition forces.

“The five targets include three KH locations in Iraq and two in Syria. These locations included weapon storage facilities and command and control locations that KH uses to plan and execute attacks” on coalition forces, according to the statement.

US to Increase Sanctions Against Iran in 2020 - State Department

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) - The United States in 2020 will increase sanctions on Iran, which is already in dismal economic shape, US Special Representative for Iran Brian Hook said during a press briefing on Monday.

"It’s weakening and it will get weaker especially as our sanctions increase in 2020," Hook told reporters. "It is already now at negative 10, 11, 12 per cent - roughly in that category. Secretary [Mike] Pompeo made clear a year-and-a-half ago that the Iranian regime faces a choice and the Supreme Leader keeps choosing to manage economic collapse."

Danske Bank Sued by International Investors over Money Laundering Scandal

A group of international investors who manage trillions of dollars in assets has filed what it says is the first in a series of lawsuits against Danske Bank in connection with the money laundering scandal engulfing Denmark’s largest lender.

The writ, which was filed on Friday in the District Court of Copenhagen by law firm Nemeth Sigetty Advokatpartnerselskab, is for about 1.5 billion kroner ($220 million), according to a statement

As reported earlier by Cassandra Fairbanks two people were killed and one person is in critical condition after a shooting at the West Freeway Church of Christ in northwest Texas.

The shooter was prevented from creating more carnage by armed members of the church, several of whom drew their own weapons in response to his attack, as well as a security guard. It has now been confirmed that the gunman was shot and is one of the two people killed.

No less than four church members, including one guard, pulled guns on the shooter before he caused more carnage!!

Morocco Arrests Journalist And YouTuber; Singapore Defends Fake News Law

All over the world there has been a crackdown of freedom of the press and speech. Now, Morocco has arrested a journalist and YouTuber for criticizing their King, amid Singapore defending its Orwellian fake news law.

Morocco has arrested YouTuber Mohamed Sekkaki and journalist Omar Radi in two separate cases for criticizing the Moroccan King Mohammed VI and making comments about a court decision and the judge in charge of the case against the leaders of the Hirak protest movement, New Indian Express reported.

The YouTuber Mohamed Sekkaki, known as “Moul Kaskita,” was sentenced by a court in the western city of Settat to four years in prison for “insulting the King,” his lawyer Mohamed Ziane told AFP.

In a separate case, a Moroccan journalist and activist was charged and detained over a tweet that criticized a court decision, his defense council told AFP.

Six seconds—six split seconds— and Texas state law permitting concealed firearms inside places of worship saved lives at the West Freeway Church of Christ in White Settlement, just outside Fort Worth on Sunday.

A still unidentified gunman shot down two parishioners when he opened fire on innocents praying inside the church. The two parishioners died at a nearby hospital. The gunman was fatally shot six seconds after opening fire by two volunteer armed security guards.

Proof from the tragedy shows that at least four other congregants pointed handguns at the shooter, courtesy of the West Freeway Church of Christ having live streamed the 11 a.m. service.

According to police, the gunman entered the church at 11 a.m.

The gunman sat down as though he was just another worshipper.

A still shot—provided by law enforcement—shows at least four congregants pointing hand guns at the shooter, as fellow congregants were taking cover under church pews.

“Britt Farmer, the church’s senior minister, told the Dallas Morning News that the church lost two “great men today, but it could have been a lot worse, and I am thankful our government has allowed us the opportunity to protect ourselves.” (Fox News, Dec. 30, 2019)

Federal District Court Orders New York Company to Stop Distributing Adulterated and Misbranded Dietary Supplements

The U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York permanently enjoined ABH Nature’s Products, Inc., ABH Pharma, Inc., StockNutra.com, Inc. (together, "ABH"), each of Edgewood, New York, and their owner, Mohammed Jahirul Islam ("Islam") of Flushing, New York from distributing adulterated and misbranded dietary supplements in violation of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act, the Department of Justice announced today.

The injunction requires ABH and Islam to destroy, within 15 days, dietary supplements that are in their possession, custody, or control. The injunction also orders ABH and Islam to implement several consumer safety measures before resuming the manufacturing or distributing of dietary supplements. Those measures include hiring an independent expert to inspect ABH’s facility and certify that the facility has corrected all deficiencies and implemented current good manufacturing practices. It also mandates that the defendants engage a labeling expert to review their product labeling and certify that claims on their products comply with the law.

"Today’s injunction reflects the Department of Justice’s commitment to protect consumers from adulterated and misbranded dietary supplements," said Assistant Attorney General Jody Hunt of the Department of Justice’s Civil Division. "The Department of Justice will work with the FDA to ensure that dietary supplements are manufactured according to food safety laws and accurately describe their ingredients."

The Second Amendment saved lives in Texas. It saves lives everywhere it’s unleashed

Once again we see it demonstrated in real life that the most effective response to a bad guy with a gun is a good guy — or multiple good guys — ready and willing to fire back. The sooner an armed attack is met with an armed response, the sooner the attack will be over.

Sunday morning in White Settlement, Texas, a Christian worship service was plunged into horror as a man armed with a shotgun walked into a church, walked up to someone serving communion, and fired before being shot by an armed churchgoer named Jack Wilson.

Some may try to explain away the facts of the matter by pointing out that the armed response came from volunteers on the church’s security team, and therefore this doesn’t fit in with the usual narrative of the “good guy with a gun.” Such arguments ignore the fact that, prior security arrangement or not, we’re still talking about church members responding with their own guns. He was a good guy, he had a gun, he used it to save lives.
