Rockets Strike Iraqi Base Housing US Troops Hours After US Airstrikes

Iraq beefs up security around key air base

Hour after a flurry of US airstrikes against militia bases in Western Iraq and Syria, four rockets were fired at the al-Taji military base north of Baghdad, a base where US troops are being housed.

The rockets hit the base, but there is no word on damage done to the base, or how may casualties were inflicted. There has yet to be a claim of credit, though it’s almost certainly related to the US strikes earlier in the day.

The US attacks were targeting Iraq’s Popular Mobilization Units (PMU), a paramilitary umbrella group. Specifically, the US said they were attacking Kataib Hezbollah, a faction within the PMU.

The PMU is part of the Iraqi government, and the US is both blaming them for attacks on Iraqi military bases, and US forces. The Iraqi government has not directly responded to this claims.

The Iraqi military is beefing up security at Ain al-Asad air base, which is in the Anbar Province that the US has been attacking. It’s not clear if they are preparing to defend against militias from the PMU, or think the US might attack them as well. Clearly, the situation in Iraq right now is very fast-moving, and the details are not at all clear.

Netanyahu’s son wants British diplomats ‘kicked out’ of Israel

The son of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu hopes that British diplomats will soon be “kicked out” of Israel following a tweet by consulate staff in Jerusalem in which the Palestinian territories were referred to as “occupied”.

Yair Netanyahu, who is known for his controversial outbursts on social media, made the comments late on Friday after the British Consulate announced that Prince Charles will be making his first visit to the area in January. The consulate in Jerusalem represents the British government in the city as well as the West Bank and Gaza Strip.

Prince Charles, it was revealed on 18 December, will visit the Occupied Palestinian Territories next month. The Prince of Wales will meet Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in the West Bank, where the heir to the throne will “undertake engagements”.

Pagan Nevada Guard Soldier Gets Waiver to Grow Beard; More May Follow

The Nevada Army Guard's first religious accommodation waiver granted a Norse Pagan soldier permission to grow a beard. Now, it is considering two similar requests from Pagan soldiers, according to a recent Army news release.

In 2017, the Defense Department expanded the number of faiths it recognizes and released guidance on how troops can apply for a religious accommodation waiver that will let them wear otherwise-prohibited items, such as a turban, headscarf or beard, in accordance with their "sincerely held beliefs."

Since then, the Army and Air Force have made headlines by granting waivers that accomodate service members of the Sikh and Muslim faiths, which often require wearing a turban or beard.

A waiver allowed Sgt. 1st Class Benjamin Hopper of the Nevada Army Guard's 3665th Ordnance Company grow a Norse beard, or Skegg, which he sees as a "sacred and defining feature of masculine men."

"In short, it is honoring the pillars of Heathenism, our ancestors and ancient Gods and way of life," the 34-year-old from Madison, Alabama, said in a release. "My personal faith is deeply tied to the modern warrior lifestyle that I have been able to live during my military career."

His polytheistic religion is based on Scandinavian-centric ancient beliefs and practices.

Service members seeking religious accommodation waivers must submit to their General Court-Martial Convening Authority officer a packet that includes their written request, a chaplain's interview memorandum, a legal review and recommendations from their chain of command.

The news release predicted the Nevada Guard will see an increase in religious accommodations as military regulations and policies evolve.

However, Maj. Donald Crandell, Joint Force State Chaplain, said waivers should be reserved for "extraordinary" steps to show faith or belief while on military duty.

"The chaplain corps will work with any military member to aid them in a genuine pursuit of an accommodation," Crandell said. "However, we are not actively promoting a trend in this direction or seeking to normalize it."

Meanwhile, Hopper has been deployed to Afghanistan for the last two months and said he keeps his waiver with him at all times in case he encounters superiors who don't know about this new process in the Army.

"Once I present my memorandum for record and cite all of the applicable regulations and directives, the focus on the beard tends to go away, for the most part," he said. "I see it as a phase very similar to when the Army authorized the wear of black socks during the fitness test. It is something new and authorized, and you will always encounter people who do not like change. That is just life."

But his waiver for the groomed, maximum 2-inch beard could be suspended at any point if there's a "threat of toxic exposure" in Afghanistan.

"I have had absolutely no hindrance to my professional performance or accomplishment of the mission due to my beard while deployed in Afghanistan," Hopper said. "I do get up a little earlier than others to make sure it is in accordance with AR 670-1, but that is about it."

Cops Responding to 911 Call, Find Asst. Chief Sexually Assaulting Small Children

Porum, OK — The badge has been tarnished once again this week by a bad cop. And, once again, it has to do with preying on children. This time, it was Porum Police Department’s second highest ranking cop, arrested on multiple counts of child sexual abuse.

On Thursday, Asst. Porum Police Chief David Ray Kash, 49, was arrested and charged for crimes associated with the sexual assault of two small children: a nine-year-old and a seven-year-old. In this case, one of the victims actually called 911 to report the abuse in progress.

According to the Muskogee County Sheriff’s office, deputies responded to a 911 call on December 19. The caller — who was reportedly one of the victims — told dispatch that Kash was sexually assaulting them, according to an affidavit filed with the case.

“We received the initial call and began the initial investigation and then turned it over to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation,” Chief Deputy Michael Mahan to the Muskogee Phoenix. “It’s standard procedure whenever it involves another law enforcement agency within Muskogee County.”

During the investigation, the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) conducted a sexual assault nurse examination, or SANE, which found injuries to one of the children were consistent with child sexual abuse, according to the paper.

While he was detained, during interviews — one carried out on Dec. 20 and one on Dec. 23 — the chief confessed to sexually assaulting the two children on multiple occasions between September and December.

“[Kash] described instances of receiving oral sex from juvenile 1 and juvenile 2, and also detailed instances of vaginal manipulation on juvenile 2 occurring at [Kash’s] residence located in Porum, Oklahoma,” the affidavit states.

In a disgusting twist, one of the victims described how the police chief first began sexually abusing her at Kids’ Space, a child advocacy center. Kids’ Space is a place for children to report child abuse and have it investigated by authorities. While this poor girl was trying to report abuse, Kash began abusing her.

One of the children detailed several instances of assault during an interview at Kids’ Space, Muskogee County Child Advocacy Center, according to the affidavit. The OSBI later concluded that Kash had abused the children and should be charged with child sexual abuse, the affidavit states.

Trump impeachment trial drags Roberts into spotlight

Chief Justice John Roberts has tried to prevent the Supreme Court from being seen as just another political body, but when he presides over President Trump’s likely impeachment trial in the Senate, the partisan glare will be hard for him to avoid.

The 64-year-old chief justice who famously said judges should simply call balls and strikes will now hold influence over the most bitterly partisan impeachment trial in modern American history, a situation more akin to umpiring a bench-clearing brawl.

The contentious affair threatens to put Roberts, a George W. Bush appointee, under political pressure from all sides, a role court watchers say the mild-mannered jurist will assume with great reluctance.

“He will look the part, and he will play the part, but he does not want the part,” said Carter Phillips, a partner at Sidley Austin who has argued dozens of cases before the Supreme Court.

The timing of Trump’s impeachment trial could hardly be less auspicious for a chief justice eager to avoid the political fray, especially as Roberts has morphed into something of a swing vote between the court’s reliably conservative and liberal blocs.

The Senate trial, expected to start in January, will also unfold as the Supreme Court prepares to hear arguments in the coming months in a landmark separation of powers fight involving efforts by House Democrats and New York state prosecutors to obtain years of Trump’s financial records and tax returns.

Roberts could cast the deciding vote to disclose or shield Trump’s financial records and may tip the scale in other hot-button cases that involve LGBT and abortion rights and the deportation status of nearly 700,000 young undocumented immigrants.

Decisions in these politically charged disputes should arrive this summer, just months before Americans head to the polls to determine if Trump gets a second term in the White House.

Trump and Roberts have at times had a difficult relationship.

The chief justice pushed back in a speech after the president branded a judge on the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals "an Obama judge" for a 2018 decision that Trump disagreed with.

"We do not have Obama judges or Trump judges, Bush judges or Clinton judges," Roberts responded at the time, defending the federal judiciary.

Trump would later say that he held "a lot of respect" for Roberts, even as the president doubled down on his criticism of the appeals court decision.

The political drama surrounding Roberts as he prepares to preside over the impeachment trial is likely to heighten his sensitivity to the public perception of the high court and the judiciary.

The IRS placed lien on Hunter Biden for about $113,000 in unpaid taxes from year he served on Burisma Board

The IRS placed a tax lien on Hunter Biden for $112,805 in unpaid taxes from 2015, according to records the Daily Caller News Foundation obtained.

Biden served on the boards of the Ukrainian natural gas company Burisma Holdings and the Chinese private equity firm BHR Partners in 2015.

Biden has been accused of refusing to provide basic information about his finances in an ongoing paternity case in Arkansas.

The IRS placed a tax lien on Hunter Biden seeking $112,805 in unpaid taxes from 2015, according to records the Daily Caller News Foundation obtained.

The federal agency issued the previously unreported lien in November 2018 and it seeks unpaid taxes for a year in which Biden, the son of former Vice President Joe Biden, served on the boards of the Ukrainian natural gas company Burisma Holdings and the Chinese private equity firm BHR Partners.

“We have made a demand for payment of this liability, but it remains unpaid,” the IRS stated in the lien notice, which it filed with the Washington, D.C., Recorder of Deeds. “Therefore, there is a lien in favor of the United States on all property and rights to property belonging to this taxpayer for the amount of these taxes.”

The tax lien was issued against Hunter Biden and his ex-wife, Kathleen Biden, but was delivered to the same address Hunter Biden has on file with Connecticut’s Judicial Branch, an address that is also linked to his law firm, Owasco PC.

It does not appear that Hunter Biden has resolved his tax debt to the IRS. No corresponding lien release form has been filed with the Washington, D.C., Recorder of Deeds.

Hunter Biden’s lawyer, George Mesires, did not return multiple requests for comment asking whether Hunter Biden’s unpaid taxes from 2015 were related to his work with Burisma or BHR Partners and whether the lien has been released.

Washington, D.C., also placed a tax lien against Hunter and Kathleen Biden for $48,929 in unpaid income taxes for 2015. Records show the city released the lien in August 2017.

Hunter Biden was appointed to the board of Burisma in 2014, a post he held until 2019. Hunter Biden did not receive any direct compensation from Burisma — rather, the Ukrainian company wired funds to Rosemont Seneca Bohai (RSB), an American firm controlled by Hunter Biden’s longtime business partner Devon Archer. Between June 2014 and October 2015, RSB wired a total of $708,302 to Hunter Biden each month for undisclosed purposes while RSB was receiving funds from Burisma.

Over 500 election clerks in Michigan are not accredited to run the state’s elections

More than 500 election clerks in Michigan have not been properly accredited to run the state’s elections, according to a recent audit.

“Local election clerks did not meet legal training requirements in 32 counties, 83 cities and 426 townships, a report from the office of Michigan’s auditor general found,” according to the Hill.

Page 19 of Auditor General Doug A. Ringler’s report stated:

We also reviewed other local election officials to determine if any election officials in those areas were fully accredited. We identified 12 counties, 38 cities, and 290 townships where the clerk had not completed the initial accreditation or continuing education training requirements and no other local election official had achieved full accreditation.

Even though the Bureau of Elections (BOE) directly assigned clerks training and continuing education through an online portal and notified them of the required training via weekly newsletters, the BOE does not have the authority to enforce participation.

“We recommend that BOE improve its process to promote accreditation to help ensure that local election officials are fully trained and updated on Michigan’s election process,” the document said.

However, Highland Park City clerk Brenda Green told the Detroit Free Press that she has “done everything the state has asked [her] to do to stay accredited,” stating, “I can’t understand how that information is incorrect.”

“I will be reaching out to them,” Green noted.

Ecorse City clerk Dana Hughes called the auditor general’s findings a “lie” and said she and her deputy have remained compliant and accredited since 2014.

“The audit is a snapshot in time, based on records in May of this year, and it is possible some local clerks and other election officials have received full accreditation since the report was released,” the Press stated.

Friday, Michigan State Department spokesperson Jake Rollow said about 97 percent of clerks had completed the accreditation requirements but added that some areas needed more attention.

“The Bureau has taken steps to address some areas identified in the report, and will continue to make further improvements in 2020 and beyond,” he concluded.

Wikileaks has released their fourth set of leaks from the OPCW’s Douma investigation, revealing new details about the alleged deletion of important information regarding the fact-finding mission.

“One of the documents is an e-mail exchange dated 27 and 28 February between members of the fact finding mission (FFM) deployed to Douma and the senior officials of the OPCW. It includes an e-mail from Sebastien Braha, Chief of Cabinet at the OPCW, where he instructs that an engineering report from Ian Henderson should be removed from the secure registry of the organisation:

‘Please get this document out of DRA [Documents Registry Archive]… And please remove all traces, if any, of its delivery/storage/whatever in DRA.’”

According to Wikileaks, the main finding of Henderson, who inspected the sites in Douma, was that two of the cylinders were most likely manually placed at the site, rather than dropped.

“The main finding of Henderson, who inspected the sites in Douma and two cylinders that were found on the site of the alleged attack, was that they were more likely manually placed there than dropped from a plane or helicopter from considerable heights. His findings were omitted from the official final OPCW report on the Douma incident,” the Wikileaks report said.

Another document released today is minutes from a meeting on 6 June 2018 where four staff members of the OPCW had discussions with “three Toxicologists/Clinical pharmacologists, one bioanalytical and toxicological chemist” (all specialists in chemical weapons, according to the minutes).

The purpose of this meeting was two-fold. The first objective was “to solicit expert advice on the value of exhuming suspected victims of the alleged chemical attack in Douma on 7 April 2018”. According to the minutes, the OPCW team was advised by the experts that there would be little use in conducting exhumations. The second point was “To elicit expert opinions from the forensic toxicologists regarding the observed and reported symptoms of the alleged victims.”

More specifically, “…whether the symptoms observed in victims were consistent with exposure to chlorine or other reactive chlorine gas.”

According to the minutes leaked today: “With respect to the consistency of the observed and reported symptoms of the alleged victims with possible exposure to chlorine gas or similar, the experts were conclusive in their statements that there was no correlation between symptoms and chlorine exposure”.

The OPCW team members wrote that the key “take-away message” from the meeting was “that the symptoms observed were inconsistent with exposure to chlorine and no other obvious candidate chemical causing the symptoms could be identified”.

According to the full indictment, Netanyahu will be charged with fraud and breach of trust in Cases 1000 and 2000, in which he is suspected of receiving gifts from wealthy benefactors and attempting to arrange a quid pro quo with a newspaper publisher. He will be charged with bribery, fraud and breach of trust in Case 4000, which concerns suspicions he gave out regulatory favors in exchange for positive media coverage.

In response to the indictments, Netanyahu has denied wrongdoing, vowed to stay in his post and fight what he called “tainted” and prejudiced investigations, and accused police investigators and prosecutors of plotting an “attempted coup” to bring him down.

Seattle Company Used Secret Drain to Dump Toxic Waste Directly Into Sewer System

According to a 36-count grand jury indictment, a Seattle company used a hidden drain to dump a highly-corrosive chemical solution directly into the sewer system.

The King County sewer system eventually reaches the Duwamish Waterway and the Puget Sound.

After “a sensitive sewer flow meter tipped them off to something strange,” agents sent a robot into the sewer to investigate, the Seattle Times reports.

Inside the sewer, the robot’s camera recorded a white stain of unknown origin and, according to a federal indictment handed down earlier this month, federal agents executed a search warrant after real-time monitoring equipment they installed indicated an unusual spike in the water’s pH.

During the search, a portable pump covered in a high-pH liquid and a hidden drain that had never been disclosed were both discovered.

It turns out, both the company’s owner and the manager of the plant, who happen to be cousins, have been lying to regulators since at least 2009, according to the indictment. The scheme was discovered in 2018.

The Seattle Barrel and Cooperage Company collects used 55-gallon industrial drums and resells them after undergoing a reconditioning process that involves washing them in a tank full of highly-corrosive chemical solution. The family-owned company is legally obligated to dispose of the caustic solution properly.

Louie Sanft and John Sanft have both charged with criminal conspiracy as well as 29 counts of violating the Clean Water Act—one for each of the 29 times that investigators documented the waste being discharged into the sewer system in 2018 and 2019—and are expected to appear in court next month.

The century-old company is laying the blame on a former employee whose employment was terminated earlier this year, according to Seattle Barrel’s lawyer, Harold Malkin. That employee hasn’t been named or charged.

Louie Sanft’s lawyer, Angelo Calfo, blames the former employee as well and says that the Justice Department and the EPA both made a “serious error” in charging his client.

Calfo explained:

Louie had no motive to do this. Company practice and policy was to have the tank water boiled down and evaporated. Any sludge from the tank would be transported for proper disposal. This case is about a former employee who cut corners for his own gain.

Another Fatal Wreck: Two Dead After Tesla Runs Red Light, Slams Into Vehicle Near LA

Another day, yet another Tesla wreck.

It was just hours ago that we highlighted a wreck where a Tesla slammed into the back of (yet another) inanimate fire truck.

And yet again, here we are with another "peculiar" sounding Tesla accident. This one involving a Tesla that ran a red light near Los Angeles, California and slammed into another vehicle on Sunday, killing two people.

According to KTLA 5, the incident took place at Vermont Ave and Artesia Blvd. on Sunday. The driver of the 2016 Tesla exited the westbound 91 freeway "at a high speed" and then failed to stop at a red light at the next intersection. As a result, he slammed into a 2006 Honda Civic at the light.

There is no indication as to whether or not Autopilot played a role in the accident yet.

Witnesses and bystanders rushed to the scene to help. The two people inside the Tesla were transported to the hospital with injuries and, while the driver has not been arrested, an investigation is ongoing. The two people in the Honda were both pronounced dead at the scene. The driver was a 40 year old man and the passenger was a 39 year old woman.

UK: Veteran Antifa Organizer Revealed to be Journalist Working for Vice Media

The fact that a Vice journalist is helping manufacture the very news he is meant to report on brings the platforms ethics and integrity into question. It also shows why conflicts between nationalists and communist groups are always filtered into ridiculous narratives that flagrantly disregard the truth and lead to real world consequences.

A virulent London-based anarchist has been revealed to be James D. Poulter (not to be confused with the motivational speaker), according to multiple sources who have confirmed his identity to National Justice.

Poulter's targets for slander, harassment and violence include trade unionists, nationalists and a family that was subjected to torment by Poulter's gang through the "direct action" Solidarity Federations of South London and Brighton, as well as their extremist website, Libcom.org . A dig query of the DNS shows that Libcom's domain is registered to the address of the Freedom Press anarchist bookstore in the East End of London, and Poulter is the designated administrator.

Libcom itself hosts a number of incendiary materials, such as works by Luigi Galleani instructing readers to blow up houses of worship and murder people, or more contemporary calls to terrorism against right-wing speech, which has earned the site criticism in some Marxist circles.

Most shocking of all, Poulter is also a freelance journalist who has written 25 articles for Vice UK, and appeared in a number of other mainstream liberal publications like The Guardian.

Open Season on Critics of 5G Cell Phone Technology: Media Censorship And Smear Campaigns against Prominent Scientists and Physicians

Simply saying that more health research is needed on 5G —the latest generation of cell phone technology— can be hazardous to your reputation.

Last May, the New York Times tried to take down David Carpenter, a public health physician and the country’s most prominent 5G critic. Veteran science writer William Broad painted Carpenter as a willing tool of a disinformation campaign promoted by RT America, a TV network which he described as “the cat’s paw of Russian president, Vladimir Putin.” The page-one story ran under the headline, “Your 5G Phone Won’t Hurt You But Russia Wants You To Think Otherwise.”

Two months later, on July 16, Broad was back for another hit on Carpenter. This time, he was given most of the front page of the Times’ Tuesday science section, to portray Carpenter as a fringe player working “hard to revise established science.”

Much of what Broad wrote was fiction. (See “A Fact-Free Hit on a 5G Critic.”)

Now Scientific American has ambushed Joel Moskowitz, one of the few other academics willing to state the obvious: No one knows whether 5G is safe. Moskowitz, based at the University of California, Berkeley, School of Public Health, runs the widely read blog, Electromagnetic Radiation Safety. This new attack, written by David Grimes, an Irish physicist and science columnist, is vicious. Grimes labels Moskowitz a scaremonger —it’s in the headline: “Don’t Fall Prey to Scaremongering about 5G.”

But that’s just the beginning. Grimes goes on to portray Moskowitz as falling victim to “illusory truth,” accusing him of “alarming ignorance” and disseminating “groundless falsehoods.” Moskowitz’s outlook is “most certainly a fringe view” which pivots on “fatally flawed conjecture,” according to Grimes. He saves the worst for last, comparing Moskowitz and anti-5G activists to liars and anti-vaxxers:

“One need only look to the alarming renaissance of once-conquered diseases, driven by anti-vaccine disinformation online —the human cost when superstition and mendacity outpace science.”

But it’s Grimes who gets the science all wrong. He claims that the cancer findings of the U.S. National Toxicology Program (NTP) are a “canard.” This is simply not so. We may argue about the strength of the link between cell phone radiation and cancer but not whether the NTP found one. The NTP concluded, without qualification, that its $30 million animal study found “clear evidence” of an association. Grimes calls this claim “profoundly misguided,” citing as backup only an isolated blog post from May 2016, two-and-a-half years before the final NTP report was released.

Grimes is also wrong about Interphone: this 13-country epidemiological study shows a link, according to an expert panel convened by the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC). Grimes touts the Danish cohort study as a “most reliable” example of a study showing cell phones are safe, but, in fact, it’s of dubious quality, again according to the IARC panel, as well as just about everyone who has read beyond the abstract. Radar radiation has not been exonerated from cancer risks, as Grimes would have us believe —his claim is based on a literature review by a group of industry consultants.

On and on it goes, one distortion after another, most taken from industry’s propaganda playbook.
