White House bids are known to be a good way to prepare for the Oval Office’s rigors, which includes vetting by West Wing staff to prevent problematic people meeting with the president. But the Washington Examiner has found several cases in which the campaign of 2020 Democrat Elizabeth Warren failed to flag people whom her rivals’ teams would have likely avoided.

This month, Warren, 70, boasted an endorsement by an alleged serial predator who was mistakenly included on a list of more than 200 Obama alumni backing her for president. Ed Buck, 65, was arrested in September over accusations that he preyed on black men by offering them free drugs before sexually assaulting them at his Los Angeles home. Buck, a Democratic Party megadonor, was charged with three counts of battery causing serious injury, administering methamphetamine, and maintaining a drug house. Federal authorities also charged him with one count of distribution of methamphetamine resulting in death. "This was a mistake considering Ed Buck was not staff or an alum. This was put together via Google Docs by some Obama alums, and they caught some nonstaff that populated the list, but obviously, they missed one. They are removing it," Warren spokesman Chris Hayden told the Washington Examiner.

Buck joined Anoa Changa in supporting Warren. Changa, a regular on Russia propaganda network Sputnik during 2016, announced her backing of Warren last month via a collective endorsement from Black Womxn For. The Atlanta-based liberal activist and political commentator, who is also a fan of Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders and had show support for Green Party presidential nominee Jill Stein, was the subject of a 2018 Atlanta NPR-affiliate profile that suggested she was unwittingly helping “Russia’s effort to create chaos in the U.S.” She has also voiced skepticism over Kremlin interference in the 2016 election cycle. A Warren spokeswoman didn’t immediately respond to the Washington Examiner’s request for comment. Changa declined to provide an on-the-record statement but responded to the article in an opinion piece.

“People need to understand the nature of social media but also how little access Black people have to traditional forms of media before admonishing me for participating in a platform that is respectful of my insight and voice,” Changa wrote. “Acting as if there is a single bogeyman or that everything is automatically tainted is a real problem. There is nothing wrong with scrutiny and asking questions. There is everything wrong with distorting and misrepresentation Black women particularly when Democrats are content to ride on our backs.”

Warren was also endorsed in November by John Dabeet, president of Americans and Palestinians for Peace and Muscatine, Iowa, school board member. Dabeet has ripped pro-Israel lawmakers as “puppets” and praised the late Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat as a “martyr.” Dabeet’s approval followed Ashlee Marie Preston, a Los Angeles-based transgender advocate and paid Warren supporter, apologizing in October for firing off a string of homophobic and racist tweets, including calling a gay man a “mahfukkan faggot” and asking “Latino and Asian businsses … 2 stop being rude & fukn disrespectful” and “fukn” speak “English 2.”

Timeline of US-China trade talks in 2019: All the twists and turns

President Trump engaged in a running trade war with Beijing through the entirety of 2019, threatening and enacting tariffs at times while pulling back at other points in the hopes of getting a broader deal. Ultimately, the efforts brought the White House little closer to a deal with Beijing than it was at the beginning of the year. Here is a timeline of the major events throughout the year.

Jan. 7-9 — U.S. officials arrive in Beijing for preliminary talks, and both sides express optimism following conclusion of the talks, with the United States noting Chinese commitment to buy U.S. goods.

Jan. 30-31 — Chinese Vice Premier Liu He arrives in the U.S. for talks. Trump emphasizes that no deal is final until he and Chinese President Xi Jinping jointly agree to it.

Feb. 21-24 — Liu returns to the U.S. for talks with his counterparts U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer and Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin. The talks are extended two days beyond the initial schedule. Trump announces via Twitter that some Chinese tariffs increases scheduled for March are being delayed. Trump and Lighthizer engage in an impromptu public debate over what constitutes putting a trade deal in writing.

March 1 — The Trump administration officially halts a planned increase in tariffs on $200 billion worth of goods to 25%, up from 10%, to allow for further talks between trade negotiators. Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross said the Trump administration is seeking the ability to enact "automatic" tariffs as an enforcement mechanism if China violates any deal.

March 20 — Trump says he will not lift existing tariffs until he is certain Beijing is abiding by any deal, despite Chinese officials saying that removal of tariffs is crucial to any progress.

April 30-May 1 — Lighthizer and Mnuchin return to Beijing for talks. Behind the scenes, a breakdown occurs when Beijing rejects policy changes that U.S. negotiators thought had already been agreed to. U.S. negotiators claim Beijing reneged on elements of the deal.

May 5 — Trump announces in a tweet that, starting on May 10, he will hike tariffs on $200 billion of Chinese goods to 25%, up from 10%, in order to pressure Beijing to reach a deal. In the following days Trump explains that China "broke" the existing deal and is being punished. China rejects the claim that any deal existed.

May 8 — Trump claims Beijing is deliberately slow-walking trade talks in the hopes that he is defeated for reelection and replaced with a Democrat.

May 10 — Trump threatens further tariff hikes on $300 billion worth of goods. Beijing vows to retaliate.

June 1 — Beijing places tariffs on $60 billion worth of U.S. goods.

June 6 — Trump says that he will decide on whether to impose 25% tariffs on $300 billion of Chinese goods on Dec. 15 after the G-20 summit in Japan at the end of the month. He says his administration is preparing "at least" $300 billion in new tariffs on their goods if the talks fall apart.

June 28-29 — Trump and Xi meet at the G-20 Summit in Osaka, Japan, and agree to a cooling period in the trade war. Trump declares the talks "back on track."

Barack Obama and Nancy Pelosi join effort to take President Trump down in 2020

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and former President Barack Obama have joined a 2020 “unity” movement. And it’s deeply dividing. The goal: “Defeat Donald Trump and his Republican enablers.” Fresh off the House's impeachment vote of the president, Pelosi has penned a fundraising letter for the Democratic Unity Fund that aims to raise millions to defeat Trump, maintain Democratic control of the House, and turn the Republican Senate blue.

“We all know what’s at stake in this election. Right now, we have a president who clearly has no respect for our Constitution, our democracy, or the rule of law. Every day he makes more false promises while his policies continue to hurt hardworking Americans in every corner of our country. We simply cannot afford four more years of a Donald Trump presidency,” she penned. “That’s why President Obama and I are proud to work with the DNC to ensure that our future nominee and Democratic candidates running for every level of office have the resources they will need to win back the White House, flip the Senate, and hold our valuable House majority,” she added.

The effort comes as the Republican National Committee is out-raising the DNC and Trump’s 2020 reelection campaign is raking in contributions.

In asking for a minimum $7 by Tuesday's Federal Election Commission deadline, Pelosi’s email said, “I cannot emphasize enough how important of a role the Democratic Unity Fund will play in our efforts to defeat Donald Trump and his Republican enablers — but only if we can count on early support from Democrats like you today. The work we need to do to elect a Democratic president in 2020 must happen now — not next fall.”

Pence’s oldest daughter weds at Naval Academy with Ivanka and Jared in attendance

The oldest daughter of Vice President Mike Pence and second lady Karen Pence married her Navy aviator boyfriend at the U.S. Naval Academy Saturday in a family event attended by Ivanka Trump and her husband, Jared Kushner. “It was a big and family filled event,” we were told of the marriage in the Naval Academy Chapel of 26-year-old Charlotte Pence and 27-year-old Lt. Henry Bond, a 2015 Naval Academy graduate.

The two got engaged in July and pushed the wedding up to occur before Bond deploys. At the time, she posted photos of her romantic beachside engagement writing, “I said 'yes,' and then I said 'thanks' a lot because I didn't know what else to say. I love you. Let's do this”.

Trump and Kushner represented the Trump family and took a low-key role to keep the focus on the newlyweds, said an insider. Afterward, the wedding party held a reception at the vice president’s residence at the Naval Observatory, completing the Navy theme. There was no public announcement, and Karen Pence's press office did not respond to requests for comment.

The two were introduced by Charlotte Pence’s brother, Michael, a Marine Corps pilot, and his wife at their wedding in 2017 in Indiana. “Henry and I just shared a lot of the same views about life and faith and I think that they were excited to see if anything happened,” she told USA Today last month. A family friend said Charlotte "is all-around terrific, a chip off the old block of Mrs. Pence."

A third Pence wedding is planned in February when 24-year-old Audrey will tie the knot. Charlotte is well-known in Washington for writing the children's picture book Marlon Bundo's A Day in the Life of the Vice President. Karen Pence illustrated the book with her watercolors that tells the story of the bunny watching the vice president’s activities. The duo has since completed two other Bundo books, Marlon Bundo's Day in the Nation's Capital and the just-released Marlon Bundo's Best Christmas Ever.

We Were Warned About The Deep State, But Refused To Listen

Many of the critical tools employed in the coup to paint Donald Trump as a tool of the Russians and to manufacture a pretext for removing him from office, were created more than twenty years ago. I am talking about the surveillance state that the American electorate has ignorantly accepted as necessary in order to keep us safe from terrorists.

Despite previous warning from whistleblowers like Russ Tice, Bill Binney, Ed Loomis and Kird Wiebe, no action to rein in the surveillance monster was taken until Edward Snowden absconded with the documents exposing the vast amount spying that the U.S. Government is doing to its own citizens. But even those weak efforts to supposedly rein in the NSA proved to be nothing more than mere window dressing. The spying got worse. Just ask Donald Trump and the members of his campaign that were targeted first by the CIA and NSA and then by the FBI. Fundamental civil rights were trampled.

The real irony in all of this is that Barack Obama, as President, took credit for helping revise the laws in order to prevent the spying exposed by Edward Snowden. But under the Obama Administration, spying on political opponents–both real and perceived–escalated. We know for a fact that journalists, such as James Rosen and Sheryl Atkinson, were targets and their communications and computers attacked by the U.S. Government. We know, thanks to a memo released by Judge Rosemary Collyer, that "FBI consultants" were making illegal searches of NSA material using the names of Donald Trump, his family and members of his campaign staff.

Some of this NSA material came courtesy of the Brits and their collection on U.S. targets. Some of this material came from the NSA's own collection and storage of all electronic communications and was obtained using a nifty NSA tool called XKEYSCORE Listen to Ed Snowden's description. Also, take time to appreciate the irony that CNN and other journalists were actually trying to report real news. Now they are full blown apologists for the abuse of the intelligence collection tools. Six years ago, former NSA Technical Director for Military and Geopolitical Issues, Bill Binney, and Russ Tice, a former NSA analyst, appeared on the PBS News Hour. Once again, they make very clear the enormous nature to the threat to our civil liberties.

Too bad Donald Trump did not listen to their warning. Given the robust, wide ranging ability of the NSA to probe all communications by any person in the United States, it is remarkable that no real dirt on Donald Trump was ever uncovered. Had such information existed, it would be in the NSA's storage vaults in Utah and crooked CIA analysts under Brennan's direction would have found it and used it. But that did not happed. The best the intel folks could fabricate were the salacious claims attributed to reports ostensibly created by former British spy, Christopher Steele. Turns out that the titillating account that Trump hired hookers to perform coprophilia (could of been worse, coprophagia) was nothing more than idle bar talk. What has happened to Donald Trump can happen to any of us. It is time to take this threat seriously and put the intel agencies back into a properly monitored corral. Otherwise, we will lose this Republic.
