Captain America actress, 38, is arrested for fatally stabbing her mother in Kansas

An actress who had a small role in the movie Captain America: The First Avenger has been accused of fatally stabbing her mother in suburban Kansas.

Mollie Fitzgerald, 38, was arrested Tuesday after mother 68-year-old Patricia 'Tee' Fitzgerald was found dead in her Olathe home on December 20.

Mollie Fitzgerald was charged with second-degree murder and is being held at Johnson County Jail on $500,000 bond.

Fitzgerald is an actress, movie director and producer who has landed small roles on screen. She made an appearance in the 2011 Marvel film Captain America: The First Avenger, where she played 'Stark Girl'.

In addition to playing 'Stark Girl' she also worked as an assistant to the film's director Joe Johnson. The film grossed $175.6million.

Speaking on that role she said although her part was 'very small..you can’t pay for the experience I’ve had.'

'Being a part of this production has been one of the best experiences of my life,' she said to Comic Book Movie in 2011.

Authorities do not have a motive behind the stabbing murder.

Officers responded to Patricia's home after a report of an armed disturbance and found Patricia, who was declared dead at the scene.

Mollie was also found at the scene and taken to a hospital for treatment for minor injuries at the time.

Mollie Fitzgerald is scheduled to first appear before a judge on the charges on January 2.
