Former Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton will be the new chancellor of Queen’s University Belfast, the BBC is reporting. In her new role she’ll be expected to preside over graduation ceremonies and travel abroad representing the university.

According to the BBC she’s the 11th chancellor and first woman to take the position.

Clinton said in a statement that it was a “great privilege” to become the chancellor. She will serve for five years.

Libyan Rebels Shoot Down Turkish Plane Moments After Ankara Approves Sending Troops

A mere hours after Turkey's parliament in an emergency session voted to authorize its military to send troops to war-torn Libya in order to stave off advancing pro-Haftar forces on the capital, there are new reports rebel forces have downed a Turkish warplane south of Tripoli.

Benghazi-based General Khalifa Haftar had already long ago essentially declared he would enforce a No Fly Zone for all foreign aircraft, especially Turkish aircraft.

NYT Begins 2020 With Feature Story On How White People Are Bad For Existing

The New York Times kicked off 2020 with a large feature story attempting to drum up outrage over the University of Wisconsin's Homecoming Committee releasing a video which had a lot of white students in it.

Even though the video had many non-white people in it, the New York Times suggested the fact "virtually everyone" in the video "was white" was an indictment of the university in itself.

"A 2-minute video was meant to unite the University of Wisconsin," The New York Times said. "Instead, it prompted a reckoning over race: Virtually everyone in it was white."

"The outrage was almost instantaneous," the Times claimed, before going on to insist the video "galvanized and divided a university plagued by a history of racist incidents."

(The first article the Times linked to claimed some people allegedly shouted a racial slur out of their car, someone scrawled a racial slur on an Obama biography and some sororities girls mimicked an Asian accent as part of a skit. The second article was a story about someone having scrawled the N-word in a bathroom.)

"It made people uncomfortable, seeing a lot of people who look alike representing the university," The Times quoted student newspaper reporter Emilie Cochran as saying, "And it woke people up, saying, this is actually what our university looks like."

"UW-Madison is home to Black students who fear for their safety because of the color of their skin," student Payton Wade claimed.

The students deleted the video and issued a groveling apology but that wasn't enough. The second largest newspaper in the state, The Wisconsin State Journal, ran an article in Oct 2019 highlighting the supposed outrage over the video featuring "almost exclusively white students."

(Incidentally, isn't it funny that the media which will one day say there's no such thing as "white" people and claim that Irish people and Italians were not considered "white" will turn around and say everyone with light skin is "white" when it suits their agenda?)

In a stunt which appears to have been aimed at playing up their victimization, a few weeks after the video was released "anonymous" students (who seem to have been caught by the university but not named) staged what amounts to a hate hoax by writing on a sign, "UW 4 WHITES ONLY."

Homeland Security Chief Orders Review of State Laws Allowing Driver’s Licenses for Illegals

Chad Wolf, the acting secretary of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), ordered a review of state laws that allow illegal aliens to obtain driver’s licenses and restrict data sharing with federal immigration authorities.

Wolf on Tuesday ordered all of the components of DHS to conduct a department-wide review of the state laws to determine how they affect their day-to-day operations, according to a memo obtained by the Daily Caller News Foundation. The DHS chief’s directive indicates he is prepared to take aim against the state laws.

“Accordingly, I am instructing each operational component to conduct an assessment of the impact of these laws, so that the Department is prepared to deal with and counter these impacts as we protect the homeland,” Wolf’s memo read.

The memo follows implementation of New York’s “Green Light” law, and passage of a similar bill in New Jersey in December. Both laws not only allow illegal aliens to obtain driver’s licenses, but also restrict DMV data from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and other agencies within the Department of Homeland Security.

In New York, in particular, numerous county clerks have expressed reservation over the fact that illegal aliens can obtain a driver’s license with foreign documentation — arguing that such a policy paves the way for voter fraud, identity theft, and even terrorism. DHS had already voiced its opposition to a provision in the New York law that prohibits Homeland security Investigations, a division of ICE, from accessing DMV information — even if the agency is investigating serious crimes.

“Laws like New York’s greenlight law have dangerous consequences that have far reaches beyond the DMV,” DHS spokeswomen Heather Swift said Tuesday. “These types of laws make it easier for terrorists and criminals to obtain fraudulent documents and also prevent DHS investigators from accessing important records that help take down child pornography and human trafficking rings and combat everything from terrorism to drug smuggling.”

A total of 14 states allow illegal aliens to obtain driver’s licenses in the U.S.

Wolf’s memo ordered DHS agencies to assess the following: What DMV information is currently available and how is it accessed? How is the DMV information used in day-to-day operations? What are the security consequences and long-term impacts if information is limited?

The memo also directs agencies to seek solutions for any security consequences that arise from the state laws.

“Never before in our history have we seen politicians make such rash and dangerous decisions to end all communication and cooperation with the Department of Homeland Security law enforcement,” Swift continued. “The Secretary is prepared to take every measure necessary to ensure the safety and security of the homeland and we look forward to the recommendations of our agents and officers in the field.”

2020 Just Began, And Weird Things Are Already Starting To Happen All Over The World

Many of us are expecting 2020 to be a very unusual year, and it certainly didn’t take long for the weirdness to start. In this article I am going to share several examples of this weirdness with you, and I have a feeling that this is just the beginning of what we are going to experience over the next 12 months. We live at a time when the pace of change has reached at an exponential rate, and our society is literally coming apart at the seams all around us. I would like to start off by discussing the really bizarre phenomenon that is happening in the skies over Colorado and Nebraska right now. According to the New York Times, hordes of sophisticated drones have been “flying in precise formations” over those two states at night and nobody knows where they are from…

They come in the night: Drones — lots of them — flying in precise formations over the Colorado and Nebraska prairie.

Why are they there? Unclear.

“It’s creepy,” said Missy Blackman, who saw three drones hovering over her farm outside Palisade, Neb., on a recent evening, including one that lingered right above her house. “I have a lot of questions of why and what are they, and nobody seems to have any answers.”

One or two unidentified drones is not a big deal, but we are talking about hundreds and potentially even thousands of drones that are operating in coordination with one another, and nobody has any idea who owns them.

According to the Denver Post, these very large drones “have 6-foot wingspans and spend the nighttime hours flying in grid-like patterns”…

The sheriffs of Lincoln, Washington and Sedgwick counties told The Denver Post on Friday that their offices have been getting calls this week about the unknown winged devices, days after initial reports out of Phillips and Yuma counties caused a national stir.

Local and national authorities say they have no idea who is operating the groups of large drones, reported to have 6-foot wingspans and spend the nighttime hours flying in grid-like patterns.

Needless to say, this phenomenon is freaking a lot of people out, and it is spawning all sorts of theories…

While the powers that be have no answers, the mystery aircraft have inspired a wide range of theories online. It has to be the work of a Mexican drug cartel, one commenter on The Post’s website said. No, no — it’s obviously aliens from a far-off galaxy, another replied. Perhaps it’s the History Channel looking for lost cities, or ranchers trying to track their cows, others theorized.

HTS Turned Ambulance Donated By Danish Humanitarian Group Into Military Command & Control Vehicle (Videos, Photos)

Al-Qaeda-affiliated Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), which controls Syria’s Greater Idlib, have turned an ambulance donated by a Danish organization into a military command and control vehicle.

The ambulance, which was donated by the Danish Islamic Council, first appeared in a video released by the Syrian Arab News Agency (SNAA) on December 31. The video shows weapons and equipment, which were captured by the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) during the recent large-scale military operation in southeast Idlib.

Later, pro-government sources shared photos of the vehicle interior. All medical equipment were removed by HTS and replaced with two workstations fitted with several communication systems.

A video released by the Danish Islamic Council on July 2 of 2013 confirms that the ambulance was donated to Syrian opposition factions back then.

These videos and photos prove that HTS turned the ex-ambulance into a command and control vehicle for its troops, keeping its outer appearance in an attempt to protect it from Russian and Syrian warplanes.

HTS’ systematic abuse of humanitarian aid in Greater Idlib and its use of civilians there as human shields are often ignored by main stream media.

Turkey detains pilots over Ghosn's escape through Istanbul: NTV

Turkish police detained seven people including four pilots on Thursday in an investigation of how ousted Nissan boss Carlos Ghosn touched down in Istanbul as he fled Japan en route to Lebanon, according to broadcaster NTV.

Turkey’s interior ministry has launched a probe into the transit of Ghosn, who has become Japan’s most famous fugitive after revealing on Tuesday he fled to Beirut to escape what he called a “rigged” justice system.

People familiar with the matter told Reuters that Ghosn, one of the world’s best-known executives, had arrived in Beirut on a private jet from Istanbul on Monday.

Hurriyet news website, citing an interior ministry official, said Turkish border police were not notified about Ghosn’s arrival, and neither his entry nor exit were registered.

The plane arrived at 5:30 am (0230 GMT) Monday at Istanbul’s Ataturk Airport, Hurriyet reported, adding prosecutors ordered the arrests after widening their investigation.

The reports could not immediately be confirmed.

Japanese authorities allowed Ghosn to carry a spare French passport in a locked case while out on bail, public broadcaster NHK said on Thursday, shedding some light on how he managed his escape to Lebanon.

The businessman, who holds French, Lebanese and Brazilian citizenship, was smuggled out of Tokyo by a private security company days ago, the culmination of a plan that was crafted over three months, Reuters has reported.

SWAMP ALERT: The Department of Justice Is Full of Liberals, According to FEC Data

Analysis of FEC data by Mark Tapscott at The Epoch Times reveals that "All but a tiny fraction of donors listing the Department of Justice (DOJ) as their employer between 2015 and 2019 gave to liberal activist groups and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton."

"A total of 1,252 unique donors made 17,103 itemized contributions during the five-year period," Tapscott explained. "With Act Blue, the liberal funding pass-through organization, being the recipient of choice for 56 percent (706) of them."

Hillary Clinton received 2,824 contributions from 414 DOJ employees, totaling $493,081, with an average donation of $175, during the 2016 campaign.

A mere 43 DOJ employees, a whopping 3.4 percent of contributing employees, donated to Trump. Their collective contributions were just under $15,000, with an average of $101 per donation.

"In other words, there were almost 10 times as many Clinton donors as Trump donors among those who listed DOJ as their employer during the 2016 campaign," explained Tapscott.

The 1,252 contributing employees identified by FEC records represent 1.1 percent of the entire department. It's easy to believe that the political leanings of DOJ employees throughout the department's workforce has a similar breakdown in partisan loyalty.

Here's where this is a huge problem:

U.S. presidents must depend upon a workforce of 2 million career federal employees to carry out the agenda voters elected them to implement.

But Trump’s challenge may be particularly acute as a result of the deep apparent bias against him within DOJ. For example, so many of his policies are being challenged in federal courts. The president must depend upon DOJ attorneys to represent his policies in courtrooms.

When a particular agency is trying to implement a president’s policy that’s being challenged in the courts, it’s DOJ officials who decide whether or how vigorously to litigate the case.

Think about this for a minute. What are the implications of a Department of Justice being 96 percent liberal? The Horowitz report exposed a variety of "errors" made in order to get a FISA warrant to spy on Trump. How else has political bias influenced decisions there? Let's consider the corrupt Obama administration. Last year I listed six examples of when the Obama administration was asked to appoint a special counsel to investigate a scandal, but didn't. There were many scandals in the Obama administration that failed to result in indictments or prosecutions, including dozens of instances of obstruction of justice and abuse of power. How can we be sure that an overwhelmingly left-wing DOJ wasn't an accessory in covering up malfeasance in the Obama administration and past Democrat administrations?

The fact is we can't.

Thousands of Tons of Radioactive Fukushima Water to be Dumped in Pacific as Independent Testing Banned

The Japanese government is refusing to allow independent testing of contaminated water found in the nuclear power plant at Fukushima, which has been leaking ever since a tsunami and earthquake devastatingly hit the facility in March 2011.

The decision not to allow independent testing was allegedly arrived to over “safety concerns” in relation to the storing and transportation of the radioactive water.

Other organizations are not permitted to carry out tests of the water…If we are going to allow external organizations to test the treated water then we would need to go through very strict procedures and due process because that water is contaminated. If it is taken outside this facility, then there need to be strict regulations. – Hideki Yagi, a spokesman for the Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO)

However, independent environmental groups including Greenpeace and Citizens’ Nuclear Information Centre (CNIC) assert that this is indeed a cover-up against the true level of contamination in the water used to cool three damaged reactors.

Although the contaminated water is deemed too dangerous to test for potency, the government of Japan and TEPCO both regard it as not too dangerous to dump into the Pacific Ocean as they likely plan to do as soon as their storage tanks reach maximum capacity in the summer of 2020.

The Caesar Syria Civilian Protection Act: Why Washington Is Both Corrupt and Ignorant

The creatures that lurk through the corridors of power in Washington DC have refined corruption to the point where almost anything goes and almost no one is ever held accountable. Traditionally, Congressmen reward their various constituencies by inserting riders into larger pieces of legislation that grant money, exemptions or favors to certain groups or individuals. It is sometimes referred to as “pork.” The recent bloated omnibus spending bills totaling $1.4 trillion, which passed through Congress and were signed off on by President Donald Trump, were for the shameless denizens of Capitol Hill a gold mine. The process was so corrupt that even some Senators like Ted Cruz joked that “Christmas came early in Washington. While you were with your family, while you were shopping for Christmas, the lobbyists were spending and spending. I present to you, the massive omnibus bill that Congress is voting on.”

And no one is more corrupt in Congress than some of those at the top of the food chain, where the Speaker and the Minority leader in the House and the Majority and Minority leaders in the Senate have the final say on what gets cut and what remains. The lugubrious Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky is one of the most adept at milking the system to buy his continued reelection in a state where he is actually not very popular, with an approval rating of only 37%. Within the current spending bill he has managed to include more than $1 billion worth of federal spending and tax breaks for some choice constituencies among the Kentucky voters. A tax break for the state’s whisky distillers alone came to a projected $426 million for 2020 and there were also breaks for the state’s thoroughbred horse industry as well as hundreds of millions of dollars more for new federal construction.

One can only wish that politicians would actually commit themselves to doing good for the American people, but the sad reality is that they spend so much time raising and distributing money that they only respond to constituents with the deepest pockets or those who make the most noise. Rarely does anyone actually read the bills that are being voted on. Part of the omnibus spending bills was the $738 billion dollar defense policy component, and, as in the case of the larger amounts intended to keep the federal government funded, the devil is frequently found in the details.

Russia to launch stock exchange for sanctioned companies

Companies targeted by Western sanctions will have an opportunity to list their bonds, as Russia plans to create a special stock exchange in 2020 to bolster its national capital markets.

The launch was initially scheduled for December but was then postponed to January, according to Russia's Deputy Finance Minister Alexey Moiseev. The official explained that the ministry needed more time to finish the platform.

At least two companies have already announced that they would like to trade on the stock exchange, Moiseev said, though he did not elaborate further. It was previously reported that the platform will be based on the Saint Petersburg Currency Exchange and will be supported by Russian banks, possibly by Promsvyazbank and the Crimea-based Russian National Commercial Bank (RNCB).

The newly created stock market for sanctioned companies will not work the same way as a classic stock exchange, believes Anton Bakhtin, investment strategist with Premier BCS. In an interview with RT, the analyst explained that the platform is set to work only in the ruble zone, attracting those willing to invest into the firms through specially created infrastructure and helping the companies get additional financing.

“It is not the type of platform that will likely attract new investors, but there are investors already interested in those companies and they get a new [financial] instrument,” he said. He added that companies could issue stocks for certain backers, while foreign investors are likely to avoid participating in it due to Western sanctions.

Narek Avakyan, head of the investment ideas department at BCS Broker, also believes that no investors - at least those having international business - would be willing to risk being hit with secondary US sanctions by buying stocks on the platform. Even with 100 percent confidential transactions, there is always some risk of data leaks, he stressed.

“Those investors who would dare to buy sanctioned financial assets are likely to be targeted by US sanctions regardless of the size of transactions,” the analyst said.

While analysts note that it is not clear so far how exactly the platform will work, it could become a face-saving instrument for companies targeted by sanctions, according to debt market analyst at Ivolga Capital Ilya Grigoriev.

“The platform is more likely to become an image-building instrument for sanctioned companies and also be a transitional phase before listing either on the Moscow Stock Exchange or foreign platforms after sanctions are lifted,” he told RT.

U.K. Spy Steele Claims John McCain Aide Leaked ‘Pee’ Dossier to BuzzFeed

Anti-Trump dossier author Christopher Steele testified that he was “absolutely flabbergasted” when BuzzFeed published the dossier after an advisor to late Senator John McCain shared the controversial document with the media outlet purportedly against Steele’s wishes.

That tidbit was buried in a footnote on page 176 of the Justice Department’s recently released 476-page Inspector General (IG) report on the FBI’s Russia collusion investigation. Steele made the remarks about Buzzfeed and the McCain staff member during an interview with the IG.

The relevant footnote relates:

Steele testified in foreign litigation that he did not provide his reports to journalists or media organizations and did not authorize anyone to share them. According to the McCain Institute staff member’s testimony in the same litigation, Steele requested that the staff member meet with BuzzFeed, and that Steele neither requested nor prohibited the staff member from sharing the reports with BuzzFeed. Additionally, the staff member testified that Steele was aware that the staff member was furnishing Steele’s reports to The Washington Post.

Steele told the OIG that he trusted the staff member to handle his reports discretely and that the staff member betrayed that trust. Steele explained that the staff member had spent his career handling sensitive intelligence. Steele also said he understood from a former Ambassador that Senator McCain requested that Steele trust the staff member. Steele said he was “absolutely flabbergasted” when BuzzFeed published his election reports.

The unnamed McCain staff member is known to be David J. Kramer.

Kramer revealed in previous testimony that he held a meeting about the dossier with a reporter from BuzzFeed News, who he says snapped photos of the controversial document without Kramer’s permission when he left the room to go to the bathroom. That meeting was held at the McCain Institute office in Washington, Kramer stated.

BuzzFeed published the Christopher Steele dossier on January 10, 2017, setting off a firestorm of news media coverage about the document.

The Washington Post reported last February that Kramer received the dossier directly from Fusion GPS after McCain expressed interest in it.

Fusion GPS was paid for its anti-Trump work by Trump’s primary political opponents, namely Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign and the Democratic National Committee (DNC) via the Perkins Coie law firm.
