Taiwan's Top Military Leader And Senior Officers Killed In Helicopter Crash

Taiwan's top military leader and two major generals were among eight senior officers who were killed Thursday morning when their Black Hawk helicopter crashed in a mountainous region in the north part of the island. There were five survivors.

Chief of Staff Shen Yi-ming, Political Warfare Bureau deputy director Yu Chin-wen, and deputy chief of staff for intelligence Hung-chin were among the dead. Also killed were a lieutenant colonel, a captain, a major and two senior master sergeants, according to AFP.

The 62-year-old military leader was on a routine mission with his entourage to visit soldiers in northeast Yilan county for the upcoming Lunar New Year.

One of the five survivors, Lieutenant-general Tsao Ching-ping told rescuers "I am okay… two others are injured and only I can walk," according to local television.

"There is one more person who's more seriously wounded and two or three people in the cabin … while two more with no signs of life."

The other survivors include new deputy chief of logistics Huang Yu-min and military news agency reporter Chen Ying-ju.

The UH-60M Black Hawk helicopter was carrying 13 passengers when it disappeared from radar less than 15 minutes after takeoff at 7:54 a.m., according to Air Force Commander Hsing Hou-chi. At 8:07 a.m. the pilot issued a weather report before contact was abruptly lost. A military task force has been established to determine the cause of the crash.

"We are investigating whether (the cause) was environmental or mechanical," Hsing told the press.

This is the latest in a string of Black Hawk helicopter crashes in Taiwan using equipment purchased from the United States.

Ground troops and rescue helicopters were dispatched to the crash site in northeastern Taiwan, and survivors were carried off the mountains instead of air-lifted due to bad weather.

Obama’s Assistant Defense Secretary, Evelyn Farkas, Pictured in Ukraine in Burisma Outfit with Shady Atlantic Council

We reported in March 2017 that Obama’s Defense Department Official Evelyn Farkas admitted Obama was spying on the Trump campaign, transition team and Presidency.

Former Assistant Defense Secretary under the Obama administration, Evelyn Farkas admitted that the Obama administration was trying to collect as much intelligence as possible on the Trump administration:

Evelyn Farkas: “…Frankly speaking the people on The Hill..get as much information as you can. Get as much intelligence as you can before President Obama leaves the administration because I had a fear that somehow that information would disappear with the senior people who left so it would be hidden away in the bureaucracy…

Ummm that the Trump folks if they found out how we knew what we knew about the Trump staff dealing with Russians that they would try to compromise the sources and methods meaning that we would no longer have access to that intelligence.”

Evelyn Farkas also served as an advisor to Hillary Clinton during the 2016 Presidential campaign and was up for a position in the Clinton administration if Hillary became President. It’s no big deal that she had access to information on the Trump campaign while advising his opponent, Hillary Clinton, right? Nothing to see here, move along…

Debbie Mucarsel-Powell is tied to a Ukrainian oligarch who’s accused of “ordering contract killings”

Neonettle reports that the husband of Democrat Rep. Debbie Mucarsel-Powell of Florida took $700,00 from a Ukrainian oligarch who is “accused of ordering contract killings.”

The representative has pushed hard for the President’s impeachment based on his alleged and unproven collusion with Ukraine. She sits on the powerful Judiciary Committee, the committee that made the final decision about the impeachment.

Mucarsel-Powell’s husband, Robert Powell, was reportedly paid huge sums of money by several Ukraine-based firms owned by wealthy Ukrainian “businessman” Ihor Kolomoisky, public records show.

For ten years, Robert Powell represented companies owned by Kolomoisky, the powerful banking, and mining oligarch. That information came from a Miami-Herald report.

In her federal financial disclosures, Mucarsel-Powell reported that her husband of fifteen years earned most of their household income during the previous two years from a trading corporation associated with Kolomoisky. The documents show Powell earned at least $695,000 from the Kolomoisky-linked company.

Maryland GOP governor tells Trump administration state will accept refugees

Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan (R) indicated this week that his state will continue to accept refugees, a move that comes after an executive order by President Trump allowing states to turn them away.

“Maryland consents to receive legally vetted resettlement refugees in Fiscal Year 2020, per the terms of the Executive order,” Hogan wrote in a letter Monday to Secretary of State Mike Pompeo that was made public Wednesday.

“We are willing to accept refugees who the federal government has determined are properly and legally seeking refugee status and have been adequately vetted," Hogan added. “This, as you know, is different from any kind of ‘sanctuary status’ for those in the United States unlawfully."

The letter was sent the same day two other Republican governors – Michael Parson (Miss.) and Mike DeWine (Ohio) – said their states would also accept refugees.

In the executive order, signed in September, Trump said he determined that the federal government should resettle refugees only in jurisdictions “in which both the state and local governments have consented to receive refugees under the Department of State’s Reception and Placement Program.”

The order requires that any governors who wish to turn accept refugees must inform the federal government before Jan. 21.
