they had a used title called 'Eygptian Magic' at the used rack at the Savers. I was purported to be a 'word for word' version of one that was dated 1901, and it was one of those 'Dover Reprint' series.
I looked at it in light of what I've said here that most of what is said about old 'magic' is from misinterpretations of hyroglyphs based in the period of Theosophy, ie: from about 1890 to about 1913.
made up, fake and gay, fraudulent, written by Free Masons, bullshit.
I could have purchased it and perhaps read through it, but it was very dense.
there was alos a book from the 1930's printed int the 1970s about archiological digs looking for Mayan ruins, with pictures and drawings. I didn't buy that one either.
A 5 volume set of Civil War histroy with copious photographs would be 30 dollars. That would be a gigantic purchase and take up a lot of book shelf space. I remember as a child looking at the photographs in American Heritage Civil War issues. The things that you'd see laying around on the battle field surrounding the corpses of the victims of the war would be described. That kind of thing is still available.
There is a lot to be learned from studying old photographs. Book collecting is problematic in a place where mold is common. Many interesting books must be passed over, and really shoudl have been 'mitigated' for mold.
I wish I knew an adress to send the Maya book to someone cool and bookwise who loves studying HIstory. I used to be a lot more like that, but over time have had to 'donate' more books than I actually own now. The whole house would be filled.
