Samantha Power Panicking and Hoping Iran Retaliates

A top aide to President Barack Obama slammed President Trump after the president tweeted an American flag hours after ordering an airstrike that killed top Iranian Gen. Qassem Soleimani on Thursday.

"A flag is not a strategy," tweeted Samantha Power. "Trump is surrounded by sycophants (having fired those who’ve dissented)."

Power, 49, served as Obama's ambassador to the United Nations from 2013 to 2017.

"He has purged Iran specialists," Power continued. "He has abolished NSC processes to review contingencies. He is seen as a liar around the world. This is likely to get very ugly very quickly."

Soleimani's Iranian-backed forces bolstered Syrian President Bashar Assad's regime, and the late general promised to “liberate” Iraq before pushing on to Jerusalem.
