Watch: MSNBC guest says Trump bombing ‘war heroes’ by attacking Hezbollah

Leave it to MSNBC to find the craziest take yet from the left regarding Trump’s actions in Baghdad. While appearing on Wednesday’s edition of MSNBC Live, Hillary Mann Leverett seemed to go all in for Iran and their Hezbollah proxies that killed an American on Friday and injured four soldiers, Newsbusters reported.

“He’s attacking war heroes, people who fought ISIS. Iraqis who fought ISIS and claiming somehow they’re just proxy puppets in Iran when in Iraq, many are seen as war heroes and so he’s sparking these types of backlash against the United States, against the U.S. military presence, diplomat presence and this just gives Iran all sorts of assets around the region,” she claimed.

That’s right — she called terrorists, “war heroes.”

GOP Rep. Phil Roe Says He Won’t Seek Reelection

Rep. Phil Roe (R-Tenn.) announced he will not seek reelection when his term ends later this year, making him among the two-dozen members of the GOP to not seek reelection in the House.

“Serving East Tennesseans these past 11 years has been the honor of my life, and I will be forever grateful for the trust my friends and neighbors put in me to represent them. As someone who practiced medicine for over 30 years, I said I would serve five or six terms because I never intended this job to be a second career. After prayerful consideration, I have decided to retire at the end of the 116th Congress,” he said in a statement on Friday morning.

Roe, who will be 75 years old when his term ends, said that the “challenges we are facing now as complex as ever, and I still have a lot of fire in my belly” and added that he looks forward to “representing and working with President [Donald] Trump in favor of the free-market, conservative policies so many of us hold dear.”

He added: “I’m proud of the bipartisan successes. They don’t always make the headlines, but they are critical to our nation’s future. Legislation I authored has dramatically increased the availability of lifesaving epinephrine in schools for those who suffer from deadly food allergies; and the Desert Storm and Desert Shield War Memorial will be built on the National Mall in the coming years as a result of four years of effort to get my bill across the finish line.”

Tennessee’s 1st Congressional District likely will stay in Republican hands. In 2016, Trump defeated Hillary Clinton by nearly 60 points.

According to poll aggregator FiveThirtyEight, before Roe’s announcement that he wouldn’t seek reelection, he had a 99 out of 100 percent chance of winning, and it says his district “6th-most-Republican” in the United States.

BBC Chief International Correspondent Accuses U.S. of 'Murder' for Strike on Evil Terrorist Soleimani

Early Friday morning in Iraq, U.S. forces struck a target at the Baghdad International Airport, killing murderous strongman Qasem Soleimani, head of the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps' Quds Force (or Iran's “most revered military leader” if you believe the Washington Post). There were a lot of really bad hot-takes on the death of Soleimani, including the aforementioned from the Washington Post, but certainly one of the worst had to be that of "award-winning" BBC Chief International Correspondent Lyse Doucet, who called the action against Soleimani "murder."

During Thursday night's live BBC new broadcast the anchor asked if Doucet thought it is "too simple to link the embassy attack we've seen over the last few days and that threats that's come out from Donald Trump after that to the killing of Qasem Soleimani and the others that were killed in these attacks."

Doucet said she believed there was a link between the attack on the embassy and Trump's response and the airstrike that killed Soleimani. "It was always seen at a moment where the United States and Iran were very anxious to avoid direct confrontation," she said. "It was seen that the tensions and the confrontation was more likely to take place in Iraq, where there was a presence of American forces, American targets like the U.S. Embassy and, of course, Iranian-backed militias and Iranian-backed forces inside Iraq."

"And that is indeed what we have seen happening in recent weeks and certainly in recent days with the unprecedented attacks on the embassy," Doucet added. The attack on the embassy was not led by protesters who had been taking to the streets in recent months, but "by members of Iranian-linked militias who were angry at American strikes, which killed members of their militia," she said. The award-winning journalist didn't mention that the American strike was in retaliation for an attack on a U.S. base in Iraq, which left one American contractor dead and many others wounded.

China Just Escalated Their Brutal Persecution of Christians

Be very thankful that you don’t live in China. Approximately one out of every seven people on the entire planet lives in China, and it has become one of the most dystopian societies that the world has ever seen. Surveillance cameras, government spies and facial recognition scanners are everywhere, and the totalitarian “social credit score” system that is currently being rolled out is an absolute nightmare. And the Chinese government is not content to simply control how people behave. They also want to literally control what people believe, and the ongoing crackdown on the Christian faith has been absolutely brutal. Over the past several years, scores of pastors have been arrested, countless underground churches have been shut down, and thousands of Bibles have been burned. Unfortunately, that wasn’t enough for Chinese officials, and so they have now taken things to an entirely new level.

When the communists first came to power in China, it was a very dark time for Christians. But underground churches started blossoming even in the midst of the persecution, and eventually there were a few decades where the national government more or less tolerated unsanctioned gatherings. Today, it has been estimated that there are more than 100 million Christians in China, and it is being projected that China may actually have more Christians that any other nation on the planet by the year 2030.

Needless to say, the communists don’t like any threats to their power, and they see this underground movement as a very serious threat.

Under the leadership of Chinese President Xi Jinping, the persecution of unofficial churches has steadily escalated. This year they actually tried to ban Christians from gathering on Christmas, and a series of new regulations has just been introduced that requires “total submission to the Chinese Communist Party at all times”…

Democrat Marianne Williamson lays off entire campaign staff

Marianne Williamson, who has been campaigning for the Democratic presidential nomination on a “message of love” and has been urging voters to “join the evolution,” has laid off her entire staff campaign staff.

Former Rep. Paul Hodes of New Hampshire, who served as a top adviser for Williamson and as her state director in the first primary state, said “I wish Marianne well going forward.”

You would think that having zero staff would mean that her campaign was winding down. However, Williamson denied that was the case, telling supporters that she was “not suspending my candidacy”.

Williamson acknowledged the layoffs in an email to supporters Thursday night, writing, “We’ve had a wonderful team, and I am deeply grateful for their energy and talents. But as of today, we cannot afford a traditional campaign staff. I am not suspending my candidacy, however; a campaign not having a huge war chest should not be what determines its fate. The point of my candidacy has been to tell the heart’s truth and that does not cost money,” she said. “Forging a new path for campaigns is going to be necessary if we’re ever to forge a new path for our country.”

Now ex-campaign manager Patricia Ewing said: “Marianne Williamson has run an extraordinary campaign. We are all proud to have worked for her.”

At her height, Williamson had about 45 staffers nationwide. But that number has been dwindling for some time and she had just two staffers left in New Hampshire.

The longshot contender had struggled with fundraising and failed to qualify for the most recent Democratic presidential debates.

Williamson has been an unconventional candidate who preaches the politics of love. She has emphasized “six pillars for a season of moral repair,” including economic justice. She proposed creating a Department of Children and Youths and Department of Peace, and has pushed for reparations for the descendants of African-American slaves.

How Israel Controls the Palestinian Narrative

Let's open this posting with two videos, First, we have this one:

https://youtu.be/Aa1UGFMfGGQ

…followed by this one at a demonstration in support of Muath Amarneh, the Palestinian journalist who who lost his eye after being shot by Israeli security forces while covering a protest in the occupied West Bank on November 17, 2019:

While one would like to think that Mr. Amarneh's injury is the exception, a study by The Palestinian Center Development and Media Freedoms or MADA indicates that such attacks against Palestinian journalists by the Israeli Defense Force is far from rare.

According to MADA's Annual Report of Violations of Media Freedoms in Palestine for 2018, the year 2018 saw a rise in the number and seriousness of attacks against journalists in Palestine compared to the prior year. Here is a graphic showing the violations against media freedoms in Palestine for 2018 and the party that committed the violation:

Iraqi PM warns of devastating war, Sadr orders forces to be ready

Iraqi Prime Minister Adil Abdul-Mahdi has condemned US assassination of IRGC Quds Force commander General Qassem Soleimani, warning of devastating consequences for Iraq as senior Shia cleric Muqtada al-Sadr put all his forces on alert.

The United States confirmed early on Friday that its forces had assassinated Gen. Soleimani and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, the second-in-command of Iraq’s pro-government Popular Mobilization Units (PMU), in an attack at Baghdad’s international airport.

Abdul-Mahdi blasted the US strike as a blatant act of “aggression” that would “spark a devastating war.” He described General Soleimani and al-Muhandis as the icons of Iraq’s victory over Western-backed Daesh terrorists.

“The assassination of an Iraqi military commander in an official post is an aggression against the country of Iraq, its state, its government and its people,” the PM said, referring to al-Muhandis.

He described the strike as a “flagrant violation of the conditions authorizing the presence of US troops” on Iraqi soil and said it should be met with legislation that safeguards Iraq’s security and sovereignty.

Abdul-Mahdi called on the Iraqi parliament to convene an extraordinary session. The parliament said it will reconvene on Saturday to decide the future of America’s military presence.

Attempt to suppress anti-US sentiments in Iraq

Sadr sent his condolences to the Iranian nation and Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamanei.

He condemned the targeted assassination of General Soleimani and al-Muhandis as an attempt by Washington to stifle anti-US sentiments in Iraq and the nation’s resolve to uproot foreign-backed terrorism.

The cleric also ordered all his forces to maintain readiness to defend the Arab country against further violations by American forces.

“As the patron of the patriotic Iraqi resistance I give the order for all mujahideen, specially the Mehdi Army, Promised Day Brigade, and all patriotic and disciplined groups to be ready to protect Iraq,” he said in a statement.

He also called on all sides to behave with “wisdom and shrewdness.”

End of US military presence in Iraq ‘imminent’

Qais al-Khazali, the leader of Iraq’s Asa’ib Ahl al-Haq movement, ordered his fighters to be on high alert and said the strike would spell the end of the US military presence in Iraq.

“All fighters should be on high alert for upcoming battle and great victory. The price for the blood for the martyred commander Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis is the complete end to American military presence in Iraq,” local TV channel al-Ahd quoted Khazali as saying.
