Tunnel weirdness – longtime legal Colorado resident doesn't remember Eisenhower Tunnel ever closing for "medical emergency".

The tunnels are well-lit, good ventilation, 2 lanes with some extra on the sides. Were they really closed for the stated reason or for something else?

Westbound I-70 reopens following closure at Eisenhower Tunnel due to medical emergency

CLEAR CREEK COUNTY, Colo. — Westbound Interstate 70 was closed in Clear Creek County Saturday afternoon due to a medical emergency inside the Eisenhower Tunnel.

The Colorado Department of Transportation posted about the closure at 1:45 p.m.

By 3 p.m., the interstate had fully reopened.

Eastbound traffic was not impacted.

That's possible but then it's the first time in decades that's ever been the official closure reason.

People have said that sometimes when "planes fill with smoke" it's providing cover for things like transporting high-level prisoners.
