Some scientists are among the biggest crooks and fraudsters out there. They get entrenched in our colleges and universities and nobody questions what they're doing. One – a veterinary pathologist studying cat diseases caused by viruses similar to HIV– got caught.

This NIH-funded scientist got in so much trouble that his tenure was revoked by Colorado State University in the early 1990s.

Nope, not personal. But it was big news in Colorado when it happened because AIDS was all over the news and this fraudster sued the school, after his tenure was yanked, to get his tenure back. I'm sure the court records could be dug. The story made TV and newspapers. Yeah, it was before the internet so the stories were printed on real paper, made out of trees. The story was discussed in a few high school classes I heard about, and it shattered people's faith in science. As it should.
