Harvey Weinstein indicted on new sex crimes in Los Angeles

Harvey Weinstein has been indicted on new sex crime charges in Los Angeles, just as his trial on separate rape and sexual assault charges in New York was poised to get underway, prosecutors announced Monday.

The Hollywood mogul has been charged with raping one woman and sexually assaulting another in separate incidents over a two-day period in 2013, Los Angeles County District Attorney Jackie Lacey said in a news release.

“We believe the evidence will show that the defendant used his power and influence to gain access to his victims and then commit violent crimes against them,” Lacey said in a statement. “I want to commend the victims who have come forward and bravely recounted what happened to them. It is my hope that all victims of sexual violence find strength and healing as they move forward.”

JUDGE ALLOWS CONSOLIDATION OF CHARGES AGAINST HARVEY WEINSTEIN

Weinstein allegedly raped a woman in a hotel room on Feb. 18, 2013, after he pushed his way inside her room, prosecutors said. The next night, he allegedly sexually assaulted a woman in a Beverly Hills hotel suite. That woman is expected to testify at Weinstein's trial in New York.

The Los Angeles district attorney’s task force is still investigating sex crime allegations against Weinstein from three women, Lacey said. Prosecutors declined charges involving three other women because their cases were beyond the statute of limitations.

Weinstein faces up to 28 years in state prison if he is convicted of the charges filed in L.A. of forcible rape, forcible oral copulation, sexual penetration by use of force and sexual battery by restraint. His arraignment has not yet been scheduled and prosecutors will recommend $5 million bail. Weinstein is expected to appear in court in California after his trial in New York is finished, Lacey said.

The Manhattan district attorney's office declined to comment on the new charges.

The news came the same day that Weinstein and several of the women who have accused him of sexual misconduct converged Monday at the New York City courthouse where a judge and his lawyers handled the final preparations for his high-stakes trial on charges of rape and assault.

Soccer player slammed over alleged anti-Semitic tweet

English FA launches investigation into tweet posted by Port Vale FC striker, appearing to share a Rothschild conspiracy theory

English soccer player Tom Pope came under fire Sunday after he shared a post on his Twitter feed, saying the Rothschilds, a renowned Jewish dynasty, will be "crowned champions of every bank on the planet".

The striker, who plays for League Two side Port Vale FC, wrote the controversial statement in response to a Twitter user who asked him to "predict the results of World War III".

When warned by other Twitter users that his comments could be seen as racist, Pope seemed to be unaware of the problematic nature of his comments.

"I mentioned them owning the banks which is fact and now I’m facing all this," the 34-year-old wrote in response to one of the commenters. "How is it racist?? Seriously is someone out to destroy me or what?"

Pope has since deleted the tweet and published a statement Monday on his club's website, stating that he was "unaware of any link between the Rothschild family and the Jewish community."

"Following the reaction to my response on Twitter about the Rothschilds, I was unaware of any link between the Rothchild [sic] family and the Jewish community," Pope wrote. "If I have caused offence to anyone, I'd like to apologise enormously as this was never my intention."

The club said that the English Football Association had asked them for Pope's observations regarding the tweet and that the club were conducting an internal investigation in parallel to the FA's inquiries.

Zionists are licking their lips at the prospects of war, FFS

Prepare for potential broad war between Iran and US – INSS annual report

The Institute for National Security Studies said Israel must be ready to suddenly and fundamentally shift its strategies in each and every national security arena.

As tensions heat up between Iran, the US and Israel following the assassination of Qasem Soleimani last week, the absence of a stable government will harm Jerusalem’s ability to achieve its broader national security and foreign affairs goals, the Institute for National Security Studies (INSS) said in its annual report on Monday.

This lack of stability could be highly problematic, according to the report, if Iran and the US slip into a broader war that could engulf the region.

The report was delivered by INSS executive director Amos Yadlin to President Reuven Rivlin on Monday. Researchers worked to add an additional, special section ahead of the presentation that covers the implications of the assassination of Soleimani, Iran’s IRGC Quds Force leader.

According to the report, a vast array of challenges, leading with Iran, are confronting the country “against the backdrop of a continuing political crisis in Israel that will make it difficult to developed updated strategies.

The report explained some of what the institute believes will be Israel's major challenges in the near future, including that "Iran’s increased daring and determination in the nuclear arena," as well as its attempts to establish a presence in Syria and other areas, could provide it with "new abilities to act against Israel."

The report also noted that “Hezbollah’s attempts to obtain a large number of precision weapons and the efforts of Hamas to reduce the pressure on Gaza and to impact the terms of an understanding with Israel,” are major challenges.

Seeking to negotiate a peace deal with the Palestinian Authority is mentioned in the report, but has less prominence than other issues. For example, INSS advocates for the Trump administration to publish its peace plan, but no top Israeli politicians running for prime minister are pushing for this – and there are no signs that it will be made public before mid-spring, if at all.

Regarding Iran, the report said that it is too early to know the full repercussions of the US strike on Soleimani and on Iranian-affiliated militias last week.

Internal Docs Reveal That Trump Admin Will Begin Deporting Mexicans To Guatemala

The Trump administration is set to begin deporting Mexican asylum seekers to Guatemala, according to internal documents, marking the latest initiative to help manage the immigration crisis at the U.S. southern border.

An asylum agreement signed between the Trump administration and the Guatemalan government is expanding to include Mexican nationals, according to internal United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) documents reviewed by Reuters. Agency staffers, according to a recent email directive, have been informed that Mexican citizens will be included in the populations subject to the Guatemalan asylum deal.

USCIS did not immediately respond to a request for comment from the Daily Caller News Foundation.

The Trump administration inked an asylum deal with Guatemala’s outgoing government in July, and it began to be implemented in November. Under the agreement, migrants who apply for asylum at the U.S. southern border can be relocated to Guatemala in order to seek protected status there. So far, very few migrants deported to Guatemala have opted to stay, choosing instead to go back to their homes countries.
