Cloud Extraction Firms Are Offering Your Most Personal Data to the Government With Little Oversight
A UK civil liberties charity says surveillance technology firms offer the ability to access and copy vast amounts of personal data, including from social media accounts, emails, messenger programmes, health monitors, and many more applications, all without any clear legal guidelines
Privacy International is sounding the alarm about highly intrusive surveillance technology currently on offer to the goverment agencies worldwide, with little to no legal oversight. The UK-based civil liberties charity published its latest report, Cloud extraction technology: the secret tech that lets government agencies collect masses of data from your apps, on 7 January 2020.
It examines the tech being sold to policing agencies which gives them access to “cloud data” or information which is stored on third party storage devices. Applications which store immense amounts of data on “clouds” include Twitter, Instagram, Facebook and My Space, any e-mail account like Gmail or YahooMail, location trackers, health monitors like the Fitbit wristwatch, and storage software like Drop Box, Google Cloud Storage, and iCloud. Even encrypted messenger apps like WhatsApp store conversations on a cloud whenever a user backs up their conversations, for example to transfer them to a new phone.
In 2017 surveillance tech firm Cellebrite, an industry leader, celebrated the amount of data available saying:
“Private cloud-based data represents a virtual goldmine of potential evidence for forensic investigators.”

Iran, January 7, 2020—The funeral of Qasem Soleimani, the Iranian regime’s terror mastermind, which took place on Monday, January 6, was a display of the regional and international isolation of the mullahs’ regime. Soleimani, the head of the terrorist IRGC Quds Force, was killed by a U.S.-led airstrike in Iraq on January 3.
The mullahs’ efforts to turn Soleimani’s funeral into a show of solidarity and sympathy with the Iranian regime failed miserably. While the regime was burying its second-most important official, contrary to international norms, no senior official from any other country attended the ceremony.
This happens while Hassan Rouhani, the regime’s president, had been calling the leaders of neighboring countries and begging for condolences. For instance, according to state-run media, in a call to the president of Afghanistan, Rouhani had lamented, “We expect our neighbors and friends to condemn this criminal act in unison!”
Begging for support
In response to the regime’s requests, the president of Afghanistan expressed sadness from the death of Soleimani. But the move was met with severe criticism by other Afghan politicians. In a parliament session, Afghan MP Ms. Belgheis Roshan called the president’s statement “shameful,” and reminded the audience that Soleimani is responsible for the death of at least 5,500 Afghan youth sent to Syria to fight on behalf the Iranian regime.

When government searches shift from the phone to the cloud: cloud extraction technology and ‘the future of mobile forensics’
Mobile phones remain the most frequently used and most important digital source for law enforcement investigations. Yet it is not just what is physically stored on the phone that law enforcement are after, but what can be accessed from it, primarily data stored in the Cloud.
Cellebrite, a prominent vendor of surveillance technology used to extract data from mobile phones, notes in its Annual Trend Survey that in approximately half of all investigations, cloud data ‘appears’ and that ‘[t]ypically, this data involves social media or application data that does not reside on the physical device.’
That it ‘does not reside on the physical device’ indicates that law enforcement is turning to ‘cloud extraction’: the forensic analysis of user data which is stored on third-party servers, typically used by device and application manufacturers to back up data.

FLASHBACK: Iranian Lawmaker: Obama Granted Citizenship to 2500 Iranians During Nuclear Talks — Including Family Members of Regime Officials
On Friday morning the United States killed General Qassim Soleimani, a top commander of Iran’s al-Quds Force, in an airstrike at Baghdad’s International Airport. The strike also killed Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, the deputy commander of Iran-backed militias known as the Popular Mobilization Forces. Seven people were reportedly killed in the airstrike.
The Iranian regime is threatening retaliation against the United States following the death of their terror leader.
On Sunday the Iranian Regime offered an $80 million bounty for anyone who brings in the head of President Donald Trump for killing Qassam Soleimani.
And on Tuesday the Iranian parliament allocated 200 million euros or $223 million dollars to the al-Quds forces to avenge Soleimani’s death.
It may be easier than expected for the regime to attack targets INSIDE the United States.
In July 2018 Trump tweeted about Obama granting citizenship to 2,500 Iranians during the nuclear deal negotiations, including to government officials.
Just out that the Obama Administration granted citizenship, during the terrible Iran Deal negotiation, to 2,500 Iranians – including to government officials. How big (and bad) is that?

24 Australians Charged with Bushfire Arson as Further Arrests Expected
Twenty-four Australians in the state of New South Wales alone have been arrested since early November for intentionally setting bushfires as a record number of blazes continue to burn across the country.
More suspects are expected to be questioned in coming days as local police work to find and apprehend culprits who have contributed to the devastating fire season, the Sydney Morning Herald reports.
Two dozen people charged with deliberately setting fires are among 183 facing legal action in the state, according to the New South Wales Police Force.
In addition to those facing the most serious charges of starting fires intentionally, authorities said another 53 people are facing legal action for not complying with the state’s fire ban and 47 people have faced legal action for discarding a lit cigarette or match on land.

EXCLUSIVE VIDEO: Breitbart News Visits Unsecured U.S. Border Across from Cartel HQ
ROMA, Texas — During a recent border tour, Breitbart News visited an unsecured section of the Texas border with Mexico. Across the river, the “crown jewel” of the Gulf Cartel — Miguel Alemán, Tamaulipas.
“Just south of us is the crown jewel of the Gulf Cartel,” Breitbart News contributor Ildefonso Ortiz told Alex Marlow, Breitbart News Editor-in-Chief. “That is where the bulk of the drug smuggling and the human smuggling comes through this area right here.”
Ortiz told Marlow there is no physical barrier in this section of the Rio Grande border with Mexico. “This is an area that sees constant traffic,” Ortiz explained. He said this has also been “the scene of numerous gun battles where the Gulf Cartel has fought tooth and nail to hold on to this territory from an invasion by Los Zetas, and also when there’s been internal fights within the Gulf Cartel.”
Marlow asked Ortiz about the Gulf Cartel’s use of drones.
“That’s been something that in recent years that we’ve been noticing,” he responded. “There’s been quite a few drones — large, commercial drones that you can buy at a regular store in the U.S. They’re using them over there for surveillance.”
As Breitbart’s crew watched the border, multiple vehicles with heavily tinted windows made their way along the river’s edge after noticing the photography of the area.
