PUTRAJAYA: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) says it has evidence of high-level leakage of information, abuse of power, and conspiracy implicating Datuk Seri Najib Razak and his wife.
At a special conference currently going here, chief commissioner Latheefa Koya has played recorded conversations of what the graftbuster describes as a criminal conspiracy at the highest level.
The conversations revolve around the international arbitration court and the 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) scandal, including the Abu Dhabi-based International Petroleum Investment Company (IPIC).
The conversations involve former prime minister Najib and his wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor.
Latheefa also described it as a “sordid episode” that put national security at risk, among others.
"The contents are shocking; it's a cover-up and subversion of justice….In the public interest, we're making public the contents," she said of the nine sets of audio clips of about 45-minute duration.
