A 4.5 to 4.9 magnitude earthquake hit near the Bushehr nuclear plant in Iran on Wednesday just hours after the regime fired off several missiles at US bases in Iraq.

“In meeting tonight Speaker Pelosi was handed a note telling her VP Pence was on the phone,” Heather Caygle wrote on Twitter. “‘Tell him I’ll call him back,’ she said according to sources in room, noting she had to go open the House for new session.

Iran could threaten Trump hotels worldwide and he could provoke war over the loss of revenue from skittish guests. His business interests should not be driving military decisions.” She also tweeted a video in which the late comedian George Carlin asserts that the U.S. is “not very good at anything” besides war. AOC Caves to Legal Threat From Candace Owens

Earlier last year, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio Cortez settled a First Amendment lawsuit for blocking a critic on twitter. She issued an apology and unblocked the plaintiff (Dov Hikind). Prior to the lawsuit, AOC had claimed to only have 20 accounts blocked for “ongoing harassment.” We know that at least one of the twenty blocked was OANN’s Liz Wheeler, who simply corrects the illogic of AOC’s posts.

Ironically, it was thanks to a lawsuit against President Donald Trump that the precedent was set that politicians can’t block individuals on twitter.

Despite that prior incident, conservative activist Candace Owens discovered that she too was blocked by AOC on twitter. Candace immediately sent Cortez a legal notice asking to be unblocked by Monday, January 6th , otherwise AOC would be subject to an unwinnable legal battle. AOC made a rare intelligent move and backed down, unblocking Candace.

There were at least 3,157 arbitrary political arrests in Cuba during 2019. The number of arrests is above that of the previous year and indicates an increase in acts of repression by the regime in Havana, the Cuban Observatory for Human Rights denounces.

Arrests on public streets without warrants accompanied by forceful entry in homes, fines, confiscation of private property, beatings, threats, and illegal detentions were just some of the tactics used by political police against human rights activists and independent journalists on the island.

In 2019, the regime increased its practice of “house arrest” against peaceful activists, preventing them from exercising their rights to move about freely, meeting with others, and protesting. Although the tactic is not new, it has become more frequent as a form of repression against the opposition.
