Before I retired, I visited Comanche Peak in TX right after they announced construction of two new Advanced Pressurized Water Reactors developed by Mitsubishi. I saw a presentation and overall, the design looked very good, with a lot of new upgrades and passive safety features over current (older) US designs. As I understand it now, the expansion has been suspended due to very low natural gas prices and other economic factors. I haven't kept up on it. But I think you hit the nail in the head: nuclear costs too much now. Too much of a capital outlay with too many uncertainties. It's a hell of a lot cheaper to build a combined cycle gas plant and a lot less red tape as well.
You know what? I'll bet—and this is my opinion only—I'll bet Q and Trump don't give one fuck that you're unhappy because you feel you haven't been told you more than what you think they should have told you. They've told us what they've told us. What past administration have ever done a fraction of what this one has done, in terms of letting us in on what's going on?
I appreciate whatever I get. This is an extraordinary complicated situation we're in and while I think Q bends over backward for us at times, he's not here to stroke our feelings whenever we feel frustrated.
