Explosions were reported in Baghdad's Green Zone on Wednesday night, according to Iraqi media.

The fortified zone is home to several diplomatic buildings, including the US embassy.

Tensions have escalated in the region following the targeted killing of Iran's most senior military general Qassem Suleimani at Baghdad airport last week.

Two rockets have been fired into the Green Zone in Baghdad, Iraq causing sirens to go off at the US Embassy.
