You are assuming that it would measure a 24hr day. I think it would measure days that add up into a planetary alignment.
you can see what happens when you look at binary crap and see the relationship between zero and ones. the 0 or 1 column will "fill up", and then collapse into the next higher state where the arrows indicate. tried to get a clear picture, dunno if it worked.
