As infuriating is it was for you, that's how it is now for those who are still under the "spell" of the Mockingbirds - everything they see causes outrage (doesn't need to make sense), but especially anything and everything true, noble, good, patriotic and healthy.
Their minds are fighting inside, with what they actually see, versus what they're told they see. What they know to be true, deep down, and what they are told is true. So they lash out at us, you, me and anyone nearby.
