at Playboy Resort = clowns?
"I first met Steve back in 1979 or 1980, at Ben Rosen’s Personal Computer Forum. For some reason, it was held at the Playboy Resort in Lake Geneva (never again!)."
rant:
I remember Facebook had a conference where they were trying to pass the baton from Steve Jobs to Mark Zuckerberg as the next tech messiah. "tracking everyone as a UPC barcode to the masses". 15 minutes into the product launch event the executives were all squirming how Mark had zero speaking skills. Programmer, not Sales. Steve Jobs, who always came off as a whiny twat in the mid 80's always complaining about microsoft being unoriginal, could always pitch an idea and hold peoples attention while speaking. Seeing Mark Zuckerberg say "I have to look into that senator and get back to you" for 5hours31minutes infront of the Senate committee on Cambridge Analytica was not an image of someone worth 100B+ who ran one of the largest companies on earth. Granted these are the images the media projected of these people.
Sometimes people cannot switch lanes. Maybe Esther Dyson was just a woman great at maths who made some great contacts, had an awesome career and shared some stories. Or she is a fetus eating Harvard insider who plays hackeysack in a circle (bloomberg/Bono/Heff/HRC/GS) with Steve Jobs cryovac'd head.
