The portion of the map from El Paso to the corner of NM bootheel is misleading.
From recent personal observation/knowledge. The wall goes from El Paso/Rio Grande - 1st mile built by private firm. Then there is about a 2 mile gap (part is a mountain, part is a major crossing area for illegals/drugs, etc. Anapra/ISIS. Wall picks up again at Anapra and continues for a little over 20 miles (completed early 2019) west of Santa Teresa.
Construction picked up again and is scheduled to continue to about 8 miles west of Columbus NM. It was very disappointing last month to see how little progress has been made. Possibly this was affected by court rulings stopping construction. There are sort sections of wall, then gaps, the a section of wall - not being built logically from a layman's opinion. This is about a 50 mile section that is supposed to be built and it ends before the corner of the bootheel.
Personally have been onsite at the section where it is going to end. This is a big border crossing area drugs, etc. This is an area where there is no cell phone coverage and is a very long drive for CBP, etc. Remote under-describes this area. While there is "tech" in the area - response time is very slow.
The N-S line of the bootheel is also a heavy drug trafficking zone with trails thru a ranch I've been on.
No excuse for not building a wall on the N-S line. Hire Brian Kolfage's crew. It would be a cinch for them and would be done quick.
The reason this pic is misleading because a lot of what they are IDing here as a wall is nother more than 2 strands of barb wire (personal knowledge) or 3' high normandy fence, which the cartels just hop over, or use flat bed tow trucks to dump vehicles across onto the US side.
