Maybe unrelated in re Jim's situation, but important nonetheless.
Did some digging on someone I know this time last year, just to see how she's getting on. Turns out she's probably a slave, which sucks, but that isn't important here. What's important in this context is that she currently lives in a multi-million dollar house in Pomona, and it seems that everyone else who lives in that house is Chinese.
Thing is, that house seems to still belong to a man who's been dead for a very long time. Was unable to fully confirm this because LA county's real property records are paywalled–which is sketchy in itself–but, yeah. As far as I could tell, he still owns the house in spite of being dead. So how does a fucked-up junkie end up living in a dead man's multi-million dollar house in Pomona with a bunch of Chinese people?
That isn't the really important thing, though. I started walking through what I could reach of the property records, and found that the entire goddamn neighborhood was owned by people with Chinese names. Solid Chinese for a mile in any direction.
Something is wrong there.
