the short answer for this curiousity is that these are military minded men who feel duty bound to their repsective missions and this encounter further both of their agendas, both of which coincide with them being connected through their honor and loyalty to the respective services in which they once, and may still, serve.
the reason that they are together like this is duty, service, loyalty, mission, purpose, Liberty, Freedom, Justice . . .
