I retired from a job that exposed me to no end of bad news situations; crime scenes, people going thru the worst crisis they ever experienced, chaos.
An old guy told me when I was starting out to mentally put everything at arm's length. As in This Far But No Farther. Put your hand out in front of you, mentally stopping the stress from going any further. It can't get to you. Push it away so you can see it well and evaluate it objectively.

Visited there a couple times, and before I saw and touched the metal doors in the side of Mount Pilatus, outside Lucerne, I'd have thought people who believed in tunnels in the Alps were nuts. Nope. The Alps are apparently riddled with tunnels.
