Michael Bloomberg funds the creation of four charter schools in New York City through his 'Young Mens Initiative' funded by George Soros Open Society Foundations. The announcement was welcomed by Jeffrey Epstein.
In addition to funding charter and Head Start schools, The Jeffrey Epstein VI Foundation continues to be a staunch supporter of cutting edge science and science education. Jeffrey Epstein also founded the Program for Evolutionary Dynamics at Harvard University in 2003 with a $30 million grant. He is a former member of the Trilateral Commission, the Council on Foreign Relations, Rockefeller University, New York Academy of Science and sits on the board of the Mind, Brain and Behavior Committee at Harvard University.

At least 17 people died as severe cold snap swept through Afghanistan on Saturday, January 11, 2020, bringing the total number of people killed by extremely cold weather this year to 24. The death toll may further increase as the Natural Disaster Management Authority is still trying to compile the total numbers.
Temperatures in parts of the country dropped to -12 °C (10 °F), while heavy snow disrupted normal life and closed numerous roads.
"We have received reports that heavy snowfall has caused casualties, but at the moment we don't have information on the exact number," said Tamim Azimi, a spokesman for the Natural Disaster Management team.
One of the areas that saw most snow was the western province of Herat, where roofs of two houses collapsed due to heavy snow, killing at least eight people, including women and children.
Since the New Year, a lot of major roads have closed due to heavy snowfall, including the Salang Tunnel which connects central Afghanistan with the north of the country, as well as the Kabul-Kandahar highway.

The defeat of the Teutonic Knights was resounding. According to Teutonic payroll records, only 1,427 men reported back to Marienburg to claim their pay. Of 1,200 men sent from Danzig, only 300 returned. Between 203 and 211 brothers of the Order were killed, out of 270 that participated in battle, including much of the Teutonic leadership—Grand Master Ulrich von Jungingen, Grand Marshal Friedrich von Wallenrode, Grand Komtur Kuno von Lichtenstein, Grand Treasurer Thomas von Merheim, Marshal of Supply Forces Albrecht von Schwartzburg, and ten of the komturs. Markward von Salzbach, Komtur of Brandenburg (Ushakovo) and Heinrich Schaumburg, voigt of Sambia, were executed by order of Vytautas after the battle. The bodies of von Jungingen and other high-ranking officials were transported to Marienburg Castle for burial on 19 July. The bodies of lower-ranking Teutonic officials and 12 Polish knights were buried at the church in Tannenberg. The rest of the dead were buried in several mass graves. The highest-ranking Teutonic official to escape the battle was Werner von Tettinger, Komtur of Elbing (Elbląg).

Kate Spade-linked group thinks it could teach ThriveNYC about helping the mentally-ill
A foundation tied to late fashion icon Kate Spade is funding a unique program to employ people battling mental illness — an idea they think Chirlane McCray’s embattled ThriveNYC should emulate.
Fountain House + Body employs New Yorkers battling schizophrenia, bipolar disorder and clinical depression at a SoHo shop making and selling eco-friendly cleaning supplies and handmade soap.
“These transitional environments are so crucial because they just give an opportunity for our members to feel that they’re reintegrating back into the community,” said Fountain House CEO Ashwin Vasan.
He said he’d like to see more space — and funding — for programs like Fountain House within ThriveNYC, the first lady’s billion-dollar boondoggle of a mental-health initiative.
“It’s [Thrive] got to acknowledge that people need a place to … discover what their ceiling might actually be,” said Vasan.
The Thompson Street shop is sponsored by the Kate Spade New York Foundation, named for the designer who took her life in 2018 amid mental-health struggles.
