I never planned on mentioning this because I figured it'd be buried or whatever. But they do nuclear testing in Antarctica. Think: what have deserts been used for generally? Is Antarctica a desert?

There is also a lot of magnetically propelled flight testing done there because of the way the poles work and shit.
