I see those spirals when I close my eyes with the lights off. Have wondered wtf they were. Am myopic too.
The spirals I see are multicolored though (see visual_snow .gif). They appear for a few seconds when I relax my thoughts, but disappear quick when I focus too hard or think about something.

Sorry may have gotten a bit over excited.
After reading the voat posts, I may be seeing a different phenomenon (or the same thing from a dif. perspective).
I definitely see spirals, but with eyes closed during a relaxed state - so it's hard to gauge what size they are.
Makes one ponder though.
