Heather's hearty comment is worthy;

>Heather Grahame (7 months ago (edited)) : Love, love, love this. I studied anatomy and physiology for several years (way back when I had no grey hair - ha) and I was absolutely fascinated to learn that the heart is a self-perpetuating machine. The contraction of heart muscle causes the movement of various ions and then the movement of those ions creates a charge which initiates a new cycle of heart muscle contraction. Although the vagus nerve connects the brain to the heart, this merely affects the rate and intensity of heart beats - the brain doesn't cause the heart to beat.

I've pondered on this "miracle of nature" for many years and I've come to the conclusion that there is a self-perpetuating cycle in nature of: movement leads to electricity/charge, which leads to movement, which leads to electricity/charge. I suspect that movement does not require the "usage" of energy, as we've been led to believe. In fact, I think our scientific concepts of energy need to be overhauled.

Peter Gruben: Heather Grahame so you must have an idea about what happens when we get tasered

Heather Grahame @Peter Gruben Ha - when "we" get tasered. Nope, I've never been tasered, I don't personally know anyone who has, and I have no idea how it works. Please enlighten me. - on second thoughts, I do know someone who has been tasered.

Alex Burns: Heather Grahame of course the brain doesnt tell the heart to beat. The heart is the first organ a fetus develops before the brain!!

Leon Ordorica: I just seen an article that the heart is not a pump but the blood pumps the heart which makes more sense to me

Sean Charles: @Leon Ordorica Check out Frank Chesters work on the heart muscle…he too says the heart is not a pump but a brake!

Abc Xyz: Wait till the first time one lands on her
