See something, say something. I found the ‘forerunner’ of ‘pop art.’

Joseph Fernand Lèger was obsessed with depicting human synchronization with machines.

He was into Cubism.

He used a bunch of nude models for paintings that are so abstract you can hardly find human parts.

 

But check out this little 15 minute film clip of Le Ballet Mechanique.

Creepy bits with live action all spazzed out with clipped in black screen with bright triangles and circles. And the opening sequence is just wtf out of The Ring.

Way way before the ring was thought of. Lots of occult symbolism and the guy has work at the Guggenheim. There is an original silent version from and this with accompanied music for an event in 1926.

Yes. 1926. It’s freaky, in technical terms.
