ANon that is dependent on you. Every distro has different things. It depends on your familiarity level to. Some are more tuned for advanced users.

 

I used to contribute to SuSE. Lately I've been drawn to Arch for its confijgration (adv distro warning).

 

Easy distros like ubuntu, mint, etc.

I mainly just run Mac os now. It is a real unix system and I have all the dev tools built in that I like from Linux. I cannot STAND trying to program on windows. Its like being tarded

Also one time in college I tried to update my gpu driver from source anf fucked up my driver so i had to do my computer science lab all from the terminal

Not the same distro but - Mandriva (it was Mandrake at the time) was my first distro as a kid. I borked it up tho and lost my windows partition.

 

I learned a lot by breaking shit on myself haha

I don't use it as an IDE for complex projects like Enterprise Java. Small python, and javascript stuffs? Hell yeah

 

The next best thing is to add a vim plugin to something like INtelliJ or Eclipse. Neovim is working on making vim an actual library that apps can load so its not an emulation
