If all senators are required to be in chambers during the impeachment trial, that forces some candidates off the campaign trail. What happens if one of those senator/candidates decides to go out on the trail instead of showing up for the trial? Is the trial suspended, thrown out, or does it carry on without them? And what would be the ramifications on the senator?

Maybe I am wrong. Maybe I am an idiot. But we have been through this umpteen times already. It has earned several notables in past breads. I was part of one of them. I was merely making a joke about redundancy but it apparently was lost.
