Fake News Takes on Fake News: HBO Hires CNN’s Brian Stelter on Documentary on Fake News — A Week After CNN Settles in Covington Catholic Smears

Fake News takes on Fake News–

Last week CNN agreed to settle a lawsuit with Covington Catholic student Nick Sandmann, but the amount of the settlement was concealed from the public.

Sandmann’s lawyers filed an $800 million lawsuit against CNN, WaPo and NBC Universal after the outlets used a selectively edited video to make Nick Sandmann and his fellow Covington friends look like they harassed Nathan Phillips, a Native American who attended the Indigenous Peoples March in DC… But it was all a lie so CNN settled with the teen for their horrible smears.

And now, one week later, HBO hires CNN hack Brian Stelter to help with their documentary on the rise of fake news.

You just can’t make this up!

Trump Curse: Red Sox Manager Who Refused to Visit President Trump in the White House with His Team — Is Fired for Cheating

Former Red Sox Manager Alex Cora who refused to visit the White house after the Red Sox won the World Series was fired this week.

Red Sox management said it was on ‘mutual terms”. Cora worked for the Huston Astros and cheated there to help the Astro win the world series… Then Cora came to Boston and cheated in Boston to help the Red Sox win the World Series.

The whole management staff from the Astros was fired earlier this week.

According to a reader, “All of the players had to have known too! They used a camera out in center field to get the catcher’s signals and then relayed them to the batters. Both teams should forfeit their titles.”

Trump Curse strikes again.

Manufacturing Surveys Indicate Growth Returning to U.S. Factories

The U.S. manufacturing sector appears to be regaining its footing, suggesting the beaten-down sector may once again be expanding.

The Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia’s survey-based index of manufacturing activity soared to 17 in January, up from the weak 0.3 reading in December and well-above forecasts for a reading of 3.0.

That followed a better than expected reading from the New York Fed’s Empire State index, which rose to 4.8 from 3.5. Economists had forecast it remaining close to unchanged.

Georgia bill would block ‘red flag’ orders that require surrender of guns

A House Republican lawmaker has filed legislation targeting any future laws that would require those who are found to be a threat to themselves or others to surrender their weapons.

State Rep. Ken Pullin, a Zebulon Republican, said he believes “red flag” laws, which would that takes guns away from a citizen that a judge deems to be a threat, violates due process rights guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution. Pullin’s legislation would challenge any future measure since federal law supersedes state law.

So-called “red flag” proposals received attention last summer after President Donald Trump suggested passing the gun law in response to high-profile mass shootings in Texas and Ohio — putting focus on a similar Georgia proposal. Trump has since cooled on pushing for the ban.

Since then, “anti-red flag” bills have gained popularity as gun rights supporters have sought to create “Second Amendment sanctuaries.”

“Under my bill, if U.S. Congress passes ‘red flag’ legislation or if an executive order is issued by president where the sole intent was to confiscate guns, then Georgia would be exempt from enforcing that legislation,” Pullin said.

‘Dumb’ Vs. ‘Smart’ Cities: Two Paths To The Same Result

Building low-tech cities sans Big Tech still pushes the UN’s Sustainable Development agenda by degrading economic development and living conditions back into the 1800s. It’s the same destination but with different routes to get there. ⁃ TN Editor

Ever since smartphones hooked us with their limitless possibilities and dopamine hits, mayors and city bureaucrats can’t get enough of the notion of smart-washing their cities. It makes them sound dynamic and attractive to business. What’s not to love about whizzkids streamlining your responsibilities for running services, optimising efficiency and keeping citizens safe into a bunch of fun apps?

There’s no concrete definition of a smart city, but high-tech versions promise to use cameras and sensors to monitor everyone and everything, from bins to bridges, and use the resulting data to help the city run smoothly. One high-profile proposal by Google’s sister company, Sidewalk Labs, to give 12 acres of Toronto a smart makeover is facing a massive backlash. In September, an independent report called the plans “frustratingly abstract”; in turn US tech investor Roger McNamee warned Google can’t be trusted with such data, calling the project “surveillance capitalism”.

GOP Lawmakers Press Spy Court For Answers About Ex-DOJ Official Picked To Monitor FBI Reforms

Two leading Republican lawmakers pressed the judge presiding over the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court (FISC) on Thursday to explain his choice of former Justice Department official David Kris to monitor the FBI’s proposed reforms in response to an inspector general’s report regarding surveillance of a Trump campaign adviser.

“If the FISC’s goal is to hold the FBI accountable for its serious misconduct, Mr. Kris does not appear to be an objective — or likely effective — amicus curiae for several reasons,” Rep. Jim Jordan and Mark Meadows wrote to Judge James Boasberg, who presides over the FISC, in a letter obtained by the Daily Caller News Foundation.

“At minimum, the selection of Mr. Kris creates a perception that he is too personally invested on the side of the FBI to ensure it effectuates meaningful reform.”

Tehran spy in U.S. sentenced to three years in prison

Washington, January 16, 2020—A Washington court sentenced an Iranian spy to three years on Wednesday. Ahmadreza Doostdar, who was arrested by the FBI in August 2018 on charges of espionage and plotting against members of the Iranian resistance, had pleaded guilty last year and had admitted to having been serving as an agent of the Iranian regime.

Several documents showed that Doostdar and his recruit, Majid Ghorbani, were collecting information about members of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) and were delivering the info to the mullahs in Tehran. Their actions were in violation of U.S. sanctions against the Iranian regime. Ghorbani, who was arrested in September 2018 and tried with Doostdar, was sentenced to 30 months in prison.

The lawsuit accused Ghorbani of pursuing covert surveillance at Washington's Grand Hyatt hotel in May of 2018. During the time the hotel was hosting an event organized by the Organization of Iranian American Communities, putting on an Iran Freedom Convention for Human Rights that significantly angered Tehran and gained widespread media coverage.

A YouTube video of one of the speakers, former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, clearly shows Ghorbani in the audience, holding up a mobile phone and filming the event, according to U.S. authorities.

Speaking at a D.C. court hearing, prosecutor Jocelyn Ballantine said the regime of Iran has a record of “horrible acts of violence” against MEK and added that the photographs provided information that could help the regime target the group’s members. Ballantine also said that the methods used by Doostdar and Ghorbani indicated they had been trained by Iranian intelligence services.

A Department of Justice official stipulated in a statement that the “case illustrates Iran’s targeting of Americans in the United States in order to silence those who oppose the Iranian regime or otherwise further its goals.”

Albania expels two Iranian regime diplomat terrorists

Iran, January 16, 2020—The Albanian Europe and Foreign Affairs Ministry decided to designate two representatives of the Iranian regime’s embassy in Albania, Mohammad Ali Arz Peimanemati and Seyed Ahmad Hosseini Alast, as persona non grata. The two are accused of carrying out measures in violation of their status and the Vienna Convention principles in regard to diplomatic relations. The two Iranian regime representatives have been asked to leave Albania immediately.

In December 2018, Albania expelled two other Iranian diplomats for “violating their diplomatic status” by allegedly engaging in unspecified illegal activities that threatened the country’s security, the Associated Press reported.

The expelled diplomats were in direct contact with the now dead IRGC Quds Force chief Qassem Soleimani, according to Albania’s Top Channel TV station.

Iranian opposition President Maryam Rajavi, head of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), described the Albanian Government’s expulsion of two Iranian regime’s diplomats as a courageous and commendable step in combatting terrorism and ensuring the security of the people of Albania and Iranian refugees.

She said other countries should follow Albania’s lead.

Wealthy CEOs complain about feeling 'unsafe' because of homeless people in San Francisco

A major healthcare conference in San Francisco this week has sparked a debate about the California city’s homeless crisis as wealthy executives and investors complain of feeling 'unsafe'.

The city rakes in $51m (£39m) each year from the annual JPMorgan Healthcare Conference despite growing concerns about the city’s homeless population among attendees of the healthcare industry’s leading conference, according to Bloomberg News.

The nearly 10,000 attendees have regularly criticised San Francisco’s homeless crisis, Bloomberg reported, with one CEO describing it to the news outlet as “the Bill Clinton of cities”.

“San Francisco has squandered its place in the sun,” said John Price, CEO of the genetic engineering company Greffex Inc. “San Francisco is the Bill Clinton of cities. It squandered itself with its flaws.”

Selin Kurnaz, CEO of Massive Bio, also told Bloomberg she has felt increasingly “unsafe” in San Francisco while attending the conference over the years.
