Planefag checking in. This 2-reg plane has been to some spoopy places such as Astana, Kazakhstan and China, so it piqued my interest. It was headed for Gran Canaria when IRL took me away from my screen. Flight aware shows that it refulled and landed at Cape Verde.

F22 Raptor crash at Langley AFB

 

JOINT BASE LANGLEY-EUSTIS, Va., Jan. 17, 2020 —

An incident involving an F-22 Raptor occurred while landing at Joint Base Langley-Eustis Jan. 16, at approximately 1 p.m. Per standard procedure, the pilot was initially taken to the Langley Hospital for evaluation and later released. There were no injuries.

 

“We continuously train our pilots for all emergency situations, including scenarios like the one that occurred yesterday,” said U.S. Air Force Col. Steven Fino, 1st Fighter Wing vice commander. “We’re thankful the pilot was able to return home safely, which is a testament to the training and professionalism of our Airmen, both in the cockpit and on the ground. We also appreciate the quick response and support of our Joint-Base Langley partners, including the 192d Wing and the 633d Air Base Wing.”

 

The incident is currently under investigation.
