Change "your" to "our" and it's great.
Remember - people will accept something from someone in their in-group (our), but reject the same message from someone outside their in-group (your).

Very good. A thoughtful black lady will be a good one, too. Because it is her RIGHT to be able to defend herself, and Northam is taking that from HER. I say that because it's sympathetic and everyone knows that black neighborhoods are most dangerous to the people who live there - black people! So a black lady saying the gov is taking away her ability to defend herself, her family and her home, is something that will resonate with more people, black, white or other.
