well yes and no. I guess it would depend on the trade. Spouse and I have both worked Union for 25+ years. Still great benefits and great pay.

I think it would be really smart for a young kid out of high school to learn a trade…..they are in demand.

And most have Apprentice programs where they teach you the trade while you get paid

I worked on the inside of a Teamsters Union for 15 years. One of the most corrupt organizations…..I could tell stories….

I remember they would scold you if you had anything (from your car to your cigarettes) that wasn't made in America. And you HAD to be democrat…..so those of us who weren't kept quiet….

 

The unions do offer steady work with good pay. We have raised our family working in unions. Always had great medical benefits, and we both have good pensions to look forward to (if they don't lose all of the money somehow….)
