SPD fires officer over profane social media posts critical of illegal immigration, attacking Clinton and Obama

Amazon Promises 1 Million New Jobs in India by 2025

E-commerce giant Amazon has attempted to address the Indian government’s issues with the company’s plans to set up shop in the country by promising to create 1 million new jobs in India by 2025.

Reuters reports that e-commerce giant Amazon has now promised to create 1 million jobs in India by 2025 just days after criticism from the country’s trade minister. The trade minister was reportedly not impressed with Amazon’s plans to invest $1 billion in the country’s small businesses.

Indian trade minister Piyush Goyal told a security conference in New Delhi on Thursday: “They may have put in a billion dollars but then if they make a loss of a billion dollars every year then they jolly well have to finance that billion dollars. So it’s not as if they are doing a great favor to India when they invest a billion dollars.”

Both Amazon and Walmart’s FlipKart have faced growing criticism from India’s brick-and-mortar retailers which have accused the firms of racking up billions of dollars in losses to fund deep discounts and discriminating against small sellers. ‘I Want Trump Out!’: Migrants Plan To Cross US Border Once Trump Leaves Office

Central American migrants hoping to enter the United States have said they will wait in Mexico in the hope that President Donald Trump loses reelection, where they will then cross the U.S. border.

The Center for Immigration Studies (CIS), a Washington, D.C.-based think tank that advocates for reduced immigration, visited southern Mexico and interviewed Central American migrants who have ambitions of reaching the U.S. However, because of the policies put in place by the Trump administration, they are unable to migrate any father north.

Their plan? Wait in Mexico and bet on Trump losing the election in November. Once that happens, they said they believe the rules that are preventing them from migrating will be lifted, and they will then be able to claim asylum in the U.S.

“I want Trump out!” said Katherine Cabrera, one of the Honduran migrant interviewed by CIS. “I’ll wait for that because it would make things easier to get in.”

Joint Russian-Syrian attack devastates jihadist defenses in Aleppo

Brief scuffles at Guatemala-Mexico border as migrants try to cross

TECUN UMAN, GUATEMALA (REUTERS) - Scuffles briefly broke out on the Guatemala-Mexico border on Saturday morning (Jan 18) as a group of several hundred mostly Honduran migrants pressed forward to cross, only to be pushed back by Mexican security forces.

Scores of people who entered Guatemala from Honduras in recent days have been arriving at the Mexican border, with the bulk of them still advancing in a larger caravan, testing the resolve of Mexico to heed US demands to contain migrant flows.

Huge military exercise could jam GPS for small planes flying in the Southeast, FAA says

A military training exercise attributed to “Carrier Strike Group 4” — part of the U.S. Navy — is expected to jam GPS signals and other navigation systems intermittently from Jan. 16 to 24, the FAA said in a flight advisory Monday.

The government is required to conduct GPS testing “on occasion,” according to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, which coordinates with the FAA, U.S. Coast Guard and Department of Defense to plan such events.

“These training and testing activities can involve a number of aircraft, ships and/or other military equipment and up to hundreds of personnel,” the DHS website states.

This also isn’t the first interference test in the Southeast, according to the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association. A similar interruption in February 2019 sparked concerns from the nonprofit over civil aviation safety.

In October, the Trump administration handed out $100,000 of taxpayer dollars to the terror-tied Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the Middle East Forum has found.

To fund CAIR, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) first awarded monies to the Washington, D.C. government, which then selected CAIR and a number of other extremist organizations as suitable sub-recipients. USS Decatur destroyer commander fired

The commanding officer of the San Diego-based destroyer Decatur was removed from command Thursday, the Navy announced in a statement.

Cmdr. John “Bob” Bowen was relieved of command due to a “loss of confidence in his ability to command,” according to a Navy statement. The term is a catch-all used by the military to justify commander firings without detailing a cause.

Navy Capt. Dan Cobain, the commander of Destroyer Squadron 21, ordered the relief, the statement said.

A spokesman for the San Diego-based 3rd Fleet declined to comment on any specifics about Bowen’s firing.

According to the Decatur’s website, Bowen reported on board as executive officer in October 2016, a role he served for a year and a half. He returned to the ship in May 2018 as the commanding officer.
