It absolutely IS the point. People who attempted to overthrow the German government to install Communist government was a HUGE threat to the country. They would not stop, so they were disarmed and removed. The people there, unlike here and now, were horrified by what the Bolsheviks were doing and had done to the Russian people and were determined that it would not happen to them.

 

To try to divorce the response from the acts that prompted them is misleading and disingenuous.

 

I do know about Mao and I know that phrase, but that does not change the historical context for the German response to chronically violent Communists.
