Britanon here. Very few people, outside of the USA, whom I have spoken to, understand that the right to bear arms is not so much about self-defence against criminals/law-breakers (although that comes into it) but about defence against authoritarian governments because they have been lulled into complacency under the misapprehension that governments are always benign. The very idea that a population may need to defend itself against its government is all but lost in Britain and, from what I am seeing, is going that way in the USA.

NEVER, EVER, EVER, give up your right to bear arms, US anons. Governments, by nature, are rapacious and extortioners. They start off as raiders and rapists, then promise protection in return for a cut of the crop, then proceed to extort the whole crop and enslave those whom they purportedly set out to protect.

Got to say congrats to the anon who made this meme - it has everything that a good meme should have. One of the best memes I've seen. So understated and subtlle, so "in-joke" but not so obscure to miss the mark; so "in the moment." Altogether brilliant in concept and execution. Well done to the anon who came up with this.
