The Muslim Caliphate was at its height in the early 1680’s and sweeping across Europe. In 1683 the hordes, led by “Black” Mustafa, reached the Gates of Vienna, Austria. The Holy Roman Emperor, Leopold I (Hapsburg), immediately fled and left the city to the Muslims. The city and Western Civilization were saved by Polish King John III Sobieski. Sobieski was not connected by blood to any of the royal bloodlines of Europe (important). Sobieski led a coalition of Poles, Franks, Saxons, and other Germanic peoples against the Caliphate in the Battle of Vienna and decimated the Muslim forces. This battle marked the begin of the decline of the Ottoman Empire. The date of the decisive victory was September 11, 1683 and the reason that “Osama bin Laden” (re: cabal) chose September 11th to give the illusion of Islamic extremism.
One of the most important battles in Western Civilization is not taught in even graduate level European history classes. Was the Holy Roman Empire, led by the Golden Fleece, actively giving Europe away as an act of collusion, or were the Hapsburgs just cowards? Either way, Western Civilization was saved at Vienna by John Sobieski.
