What is under consideration now is whether the Articles of Impeachment that the House has presented are sufficient to warrant his removal from office.

The President can call witnesses to show that they are not sufficient. The Dems can cross-examine those witnesses but cannot introduce new evidence or witnesses. They had, and took advantage of, their shot in the House.
