I called this out last year. My impression of AOC is that she is being pre-positioned to lead a Puerto Rico Statehood movement.
As Demo-rat strategists begin to lose their grip on election shenanigans, and must look at the real possibility of losing electoral votes, Puerto Rico seems like a natural fit that would be firmly in their camp.
Last year we were observing a lot of high level politicians traveling to PR, now we know they were basically laundering money but also creating positive optics for themselves in the minds of the citizens there. At least Trump is hitting them hard now, and calling out the scandalous misappropriation of funds and wasted relief supplies.
